Otter Creek Eau Claire Altoona

This was an interesting stay-not a typical 'bed and breakfast' experience and I don't think they should call themselves a 'bed and breakfast'...mainly because breakfast was not included and we did not encounter any staff members the entire evening, even upon arrival. We stayed one night as an anniversary getaway. The home is beautiful, clean and well cared for. The driveway is narrow and could be difficult for some larger vehicles to navigate. Check-in was super easy - we received a code via text to use upon arrival. During our stay we did not encounter one single person, but we knew there were other guests due to the vehicles in the lot and we could hear a conversation thru our bedroom wall. We visited the common areas several times - we appreciated the snacks and beverages available and that we could place some items in the fridge. The ice machine either wasn't working (or we were unable to figure it out) which was disappointing. We really enjoyed the outdoor spaces and spent some time in the comfy chairs by the fire with a glass of wine. It is right next to two major highways, so was not quiet, but also not too annoying. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we liked having a few streaming options on the TV. The sound machine was a lovely touch, but ours didn't work. The window air conditioner was loud, made unusual noises, and smelled musty when it turned on every 20-30 minutes. The room had many amenities that we didn't utilize, but would have if we had more time. (tub with candles, robes for example) While breakfast was not included as with most bnb's, they did offer a lovely selection of menu items to order in advance with the option of room delivery, which we took advantage of. We VERY much appreciate some vegetarian options! The veggie bake was amazing! Overall, I would recommend Otter Creek Inn and would stay here again. It was just different than any other bed and breakfast facilities we've stayed with. Zero hospitality or staff that we encountered, which frankly, I prefer, but for others looking for that 'welcome to our home' feeling...you'll be disappointed.

The room was spacious. bed was so comfortable along with the dream sleep pillows. The place was very elegant and historical. Games. books for entertainment along with the outside fireplace.. enormous fountain and gazebo with comfortable chair swing. It was so peaceful tucked away from the road and traffic. I wish there was railing to get up the outside stairs for us that have bad legs.

Great Group Getaway Great place for a group of couples to spend a weekend getaway. I was surprised that there was a charge for breakfast, although I did not partake.
