Holmen Husky Lodge

A wonderful experience! We stayed in a new built cabin which was pure luxury. Then set off for a 3 day sledge tour into the wilderness and stayed overnight in a mountain cabin. The food was excellent. The guides were very professional and caring. We got to help setting up the harnesses on the dogs, and driving the dogsled. A helping hand from the guides and it went smooth. The ones who wanted to, helped feeding the dogs. The dogs were very reliable and friendly. We enjoyed the sauna and the outside hottub. As a bonus we were lucky to see the northern light in two evenings. I highly recommend Holmen Husky as a genuine adventure!

We highly recommend Holmen Husky Lodge. We stayed in one of the beautiful new cabins. Although we didn’t get a chance to see the Northern Lights, the large windows and heated floors were terrific. The chef prepares delicious, filling meals. We had halibut one night and reindeer on another. It was terrific being surrounded by all the sled dogs. They get so excited when someone leaves or returns from a sled ride. Magical!

We spent three incredible days with the Husky team in their new Forest Suites and Lodge. They made us feel welcome and excited about our trip from the moment we arrived, putting together lunch at last minute. Nothing seemed to be a problem making our stay so easy. We did the husky sleds, reindeers, ice hotel and snowmobiles - we can recommend all which was super memorable/excellent. If you love dogs then go for sure, our family did and loved seeing and spending time with the dogs. And if you don't like dogs (like me), you don't hear from the suites and only see them and hear them when you are in the lodge or outside so would recommend you go too. We got to see the northern lights with the naked eye on all three nights, which was well beyond expectations and reinforces my research that Alta is the best place to see them (at the same time we had family in Finland who could only see them through a camera). Everything was exceptional and exceeded our expectations. This was a bucket list item for us we could not recommend more.

Holmen husky exceeded my sky-high expectations within seconds of arriving on the property. The dogs are beautiful, so cuddly, and so sweet. The staff is amazing and so accommodating. The food is great! We learned so much about life in the arctic and the dogs/sledding. We had two terrific displays of aurora and a rare sighting of polar stratospheric clouds! Our dog sled ride was spectacular. I have never seen a happier group of pups. The new forest suite accommodations are simply incredible. So well-designed and cozy. Watching the northern lights from the comfort of my bed through the skylight is an experience I will never forget. I cannot recommend this place enough. I am a very well-traveled gal and by night one, I had already decided I needed to make a return visit. Book Holmen Husky! You will not regret it.

A truly magical place. We played with huskies [ all very, very well socialised ], we went husky sledding and cooked sausages with Nicolas over a camp fire, we dreamt of huskies and we got up extra early to cuddle huskies before breakfast! The accomodation is warm, modern and welcoming, the staff friendly and the food delicious. Trine on the desk will help organise anything that takes your fancy - visit an ice hotel? watch whales in the bay ? stand on a deserted frozen lake and watch the northern lights? No problem. We cannot wait to return. Maybe in the summer to see the puppies.......

My family and I had an incredible time at Holmen Husky Lodge and are already planning our next visit. The lodges have been beautifully renovated and are comfortable and cosy, the meals (breakfast and dinner) are delicious and the huskies bring an energy and delight that is hard to describe!
