Stayed here for two nights 18th and 19th September 2024. Carole, and the staff are very friendly. Our room was very comfortable, with quality shower gel/shampoo/conditioner, which was a nice touch. Also in the room was a hair dryer. Lot's of tea bags, milk, coffee, selection of sweets, and even kitkats..... We stayed for dinner on both nights, and was not disappointed. The chef produced some tasty meals..... and not forgetting the breakfast which was well stocked, and the Cumbrian Cooked Breakfast is to die for! We were lucky enough to have hot weather (21 deg!!) and so were able to experience the garden, which is private, and a lovely spot to relax in. All-in-all this hotel was worth every penny..... we would definitely recommend it if you are looking to stay in Alston.

Alston House is a brilliant place. It is spacious, homely and comfortable with super rooms, an amazing beer garden, great food, and really lovely staff. Good beer, generous servings, and breakfast was excellent too. We're definitely coming back.

Popped in for dinner and it was delicious. I had a shoulder of lamb with a wonderfully unctuous sauce and my partner had the sea bass. Both were cooked to perfection 😋 very friendly staff and lovely food, will come again and definitely recommend.

We had a 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. The welcome was wonderful and the staff throughout the stay were all helpful and very friendly. The food both for breakfast and evening meals was exceptional. One of our party has a food intolerance to the onion family and this was handled brilliantly by the waiting staff and kitchen. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a warm and welcoming stay.

Wonderful little hotel. Tastefully decorated rooms. Old but refurbished. No standing shower in the room we had but the bathroom was lovely with a lion footed bath. Very clean and comfortable. The hotel has an adorable small garden at the back with a small cafe. Beautiful in a sunny day. Staff very friendly. They can’t do enough for you.

I stayed two nights at Alston House with a friend and it was great! This is the third time I have stayed here. My bed was very comfy and the room was very clean and nicely presented as it has been previously. We walked from the hotel onto the pennine way to the source of the Tyne. Carol, Mike and their staff are brilliant hosts and make you feel very welcome.

This is the second time we have stayed at Alston House. We stayed two nights over the weekend. It's a wonderful place with really friendly owners and staff. We stayed in room 3. It was a lovely big room with a huge bed. The bathroom was superb with a tub bath and a big separate shower. We were provided with toiletries and bath robes plus soft fluffy towels. The bed was super comfortable, when I go away I sometimes find it hard to sleep in a strange bed but I had two perfect nights sleep. The breakfast, which was included in the price was lovely. All freshly made and served to your table. The choice at breakfast was amazing. We are both nights in the restaurant, the food is first class, good choice, well cooked and served. We had two courses, a main and a dessert. The apple crumble and profiteroles were the best we have ever tasted. To say one of us had steak and the other had pork medallions the price at £72 including drinks was reasonable. Next time we are in Alston it will definitely be our first choice place.

Spacious well appointed room. Welcoming host and friendly staff. The property could benefit from some TLC but not out of keeping for its age. Great location. Perfectly acceptable evening meal in the characterful bar restaurant with a lovely open fire.

Charming hotel in a stunning location, perfect base for the Pennine Way. Room was very comfortable, staff friendly, pretty gardens and restaurant plenty of options for afternoon tea and evening meals. Cumbrian breakfast was a perfect start to the day.
