This was our first visit to the Maldives and it IS a hugely difficult task to choose where to go but we have no regrets with our choice. Iru Veli is a beautiful, peaceful, thoroughly relaxing resort where every member of staff is giving their all to make your stay memorable. We stayed in the dolphin ocean villas and had the pleasure of seeing the dolphins gently pass by most days of our stay. The villa was very comfortable and immaculately kept by our smiling room attendant Jeena, such a pleasant girl who left us some lovely surprises in our room, it is always the little things that make a difference! My husband did find the bed hard but a mattress topper was provided whenever he mentioned it and it was perfect after that. There were some minor issues with our stay but they were resolved and would not put us off staying here again. The second we contacted our ambassador Sharyaan with any requests or queries, they were dealt with immediately. He was very professional without being intrusive at all. I celebrated a birthday while there and was very grateful for the beautiful palm leaf flowers Sharyaan made for me, a souvenir to keep forever which was way above required service. We ate at all restaurants, my husband really enjoyed his seafood platter in the grouper grill, which was certainly worth the additional cost. But of the 3 restaurants we enjoyed the food in Aqua buffet the most. From the chef providing eggs of choice every morning (Kiran I think?) to the chef on the noodle/veg stir fry’s in the evenings, every chef was working hard creating tasty food. Special mention to Leo who was keen to please everyone’s individual taste making my husband a Maldivian prawn curry which he loved and also Abhi and JJ who waited on everyone with such care and professionalism, we thank them all for the service and care. We thoroughly enjoyed the selection of cocktails and drinks available in Chemistry bar, and although travelling just as a couple and this was the family friendly bar it was not at all an issue, most areas were quiet, or at least not over run with kids! There was also the option of the adult only pool and bar too but we preferred Chemistry. The service from the guys making the cocktails and the fabulous girls, Chaw and Aiz, was great and we were never without a drink….even at 9am on our departure day while we sat sadly waiting for our seaplane to collect us! We will never forget this holiday and hope we will return again to Iru Veli.
