Stayed in Silver Beach which overlooks fields at the back of the pub. Room is spacious and decent size bathroom. Lovely Temple Spa toiletries. Needed more space in the bathroom to put the toiletries I felt the room and bathroom were a bit tired looking. We paid £250 per night and it definitely was not worth that sort of money. The restaurant is quite dark and even when eating breakfast it felt like night-time. The food is okay, although sometimes tasted like it had been standing a while. Staff were lovely and friendly and willing to help. The bar shut quite early on the Saturday and even though we were residents we couldn’t get another drink after time had been called. Great location. I would pay more like £130 for the room.

Just beware if you're looking at the castle view cottage. I don't really know how you get away with claiming 5* rooms and leaving the castle view cottage how it is. Why It couldn't be furnished like the other places is beyond me. We booked the castle view cottage after staying previously at other rooms and the shepherds hut and den etc. we expected just as high of a quality stay as we'd previously enjoyed. It's beyond me how you can provide no pictures of it with only pictures of other rooms that are available that look incredible. It just adds to the disappointment. The beds are atrocious. The electric shower is a bit drab. You can't get on the drive for the hedge and the wall that is falling to bits. The door threshold to the bunk bed room has screws hanging out of it. The carpet in the hallway is cut into two and lifting up. Id recommended any of the other other rooms or the den etc. but be extremely careful before you book the castle view cottage because it doesn't live up to the high standard of the establishment or apartment group for that matter. If we'd had been aware of what we were booking we'd have 100% picked another room or the garden rooms at the hall for the same price. We only taken the cottage for more room with a baby and 4 year old but it just wasn't worth it.

We were staying at the Joiners Arms as we were celebrating a wedding at Newton Hall. We dropped our bags at 11am before heading to the Church and were told the bags would be placed in our rooms. At no point were we warned that the doors would be locked at a certain time and we would need a code to get in. On returning to the pub just before two am we found the building all locked up with no way of getting in. We eventually found a number to call and after 45 mins of standing in the rain someone came and let us in from the Hall. This completely soured our experience and could have been so easily avoided if when we dropped our bags they had informed us there was a code to get in if we were late. We were so disappointed as someone could have called us when they realised we weee not back when they locked up.

We stayed here the night before a wedding at Newton Hall, and had a family meal here. Nice enough pub, although ruinously expensive given the quality of the room and food - does not do anywhere near enough to justify the price. House-keeping were also knocking on our door before check-out trying to get in to clean the room. Overall, the service was impersonal, and you walk away feeling like they are quite happy charging what they want knowing they have, largely, a very captive audience.

We loved our stay at the Joiners Arms. Our room was so lovely and cosy, with the extra added bonus of a hot tub! The pub on the property is lovely with a great drink selection and excellent service. We also loved the location with gorgeous beaches within walking distance.

Food was amazing and room was beautiful. There was a problem with the boiler during our one night stay and we had no hot water for a shower or a wash. Staff were apologetic but the issue was not resolved when we left. Offered a free night stay as compensation.

Two night stay - with no hot water for the first night. Not ideal, but these things happen, of course. We ate there on the first night and had a few drinks, but no apology let alone a drink on the house. Merely, ‘someone’s been called… should be sorted’. The kettle didn’t work properly (needed to hold the on switch down) and the coffee machine leaked water. But these things happen. First world problems and all that. The staff were generally ok - but two on the bar were so demotivated that they constantly talked loudly to each other that they were working ridiculing shifts - and counting the hours down between them. “Thank god - only 4 hours to go…” etc. The place really wasn’t packed out and I could see what their issue was - but I thought best not to mention the kettle! The food was very nice and decent value - so thanks to the chef. Front of house though needs some serious work.. as we were left knowing that we were just in the way and they couldn’t wait for 10pm to come. Local chap at the bar was icing on the cake - he noticed our accents and asked if we could tell everyone back home that his pub was ‘sh**’. Obviously trying to be humorous but making the point that tourists weren’t welcome in his eyes. Well my friend… you have no problem there - happy to oblige! £680 for two nights.

The staff were kind and helpful. They made sure our room was ready for us by 12.15, which was perfect as the wedding at newton hall was at 12.45. It was a brilliant room (the Till) and my 2 children loved the bunk beds! It doesn't justify how cool they were calling them bunkbeds though. Breakfast was amazing and the bar is beautiful. Thank you for having us.
