Great value for money. Lovely old fashioned hotel. Only slight downside was the room was so hot but we were only there one night so I didn’t raise this with the staff. Breakfast was good and staff all great.

The hygiene is good, the reception service is good, and the parking is convenient. Because I didn't make a reservation in advance, I didn't have dinner. When I left the hotel, I discovered that all the restaurants in the city were fully booked. This has never happened before. I could only buy some bread from the supermarket.

The hotel parking is limited however directly behind is a public car park. The location is ideal for Alnwick Gardens and the Castle. both within a 5 minute walk. Check in was straight forward however no one asked if we need help with our luggage. The room was very clean and tidy. Good tea and coffee facilities. the double bed was big, king size, and very comfortable. Down to the bar and the staff were attentive and friendly. a good choice of beers, wines and spirits. The evening meal was disappointing. The menu was limited. Its nothing like the menu choice on the website. I had pork chop with pepper corn sauce. The sauce was poured over the chop. This masked the poor quality of the meat. I did mention this to the waitress ( who was very good), she told the dining room manager but she ( the manager) didn't say anything to us. The breakfast was a standard hotel buffet and very good. Overall the hotel is of very good quality. Clean and tidy. Good location. The chef needs to sort out the evening meal menu and food quality. Yes we would stay at this hotel again and recommend that it is in a perfect location to visit Alnwick and the surrounding area.

Booked the White Swan as I have always wanted to stay there when visiting Alnwick. We arrived and managed to get the last parking spot in the hotel car park. Once parked I went to reception to check in/give car registration number. I was told check in was at 2pm, not a problem but she could have asked if we wanted to leave our bags! Went for lunch and a walk then back to hotel to check in. Check in nothing exceptional, signed paperwork and was handed key. We were given room 125. It was a small room which overlooked a dirty fire escape ladder, but we weren’t there for the room view. The room itself was fairly clean and comfortable, there was a selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. The room was very warm due to the heatwave which made sleeping an issue. Breakfast was in the wonderful Olympic dining room, we were shown to our table and took our order for coffee/toast. Breakfast was buffet style which was lovely but only fried eggs. If there were alternative options, it was not made clear. Staff in dining room were all friendly. Overall it was a very pleasant stay

We had a very pleasant 3 night stay . Room was spacious and comfortable with good supply of refreshments . Nice walk in shower and fluffy white towels . Room was at top of hotel so had to walk up 2 flights of stairs and no lift . Very hot weather but we were provided with 2 fans which helped . Pleasant view overlooking roof and castle . Breakfast in Olympic Suite was nicely presented with good quality ingredients in cooked breakfast . Fresh fruit salad was delicious and staff helpful and courteous . Reception staff friendly and helpful . We had to leave early the last morning and they provided a nice picnic breakfast . The hotel has old school charm . If you have mobility issues suggest request ground or first floor rooms .

After reading other reviews I was quite nervous about staying here as part of a coach tour. The tour price included bed, breakfast and evening meal. Our room was ok, it was at the back of the hotel on the first floor and very quiet. Beds weren’t great, but we managed to sleep quite well.(probably more to do with sea air and exercise than comfort !) The buffet breakfast was fine and plentiful, but the evening meal just wasn’t to our taste. They did have 3-4 choices for every course, but not everyone likes or can stomach wine, spices, herbs etc added to their food. A ‘plainer’ option would have suited many of us better. What really annoyed us was that the potatoes and mixed vegetables served every night were covered in ground pepper. You couldn’t taste what you were eating, and after two nights we were getting mouth ulcers! We ended up having to pay extra to eat out for the rest of our holiday. We had one lunch in the hotel bar which was lovely with no sign of pepper added to the potatoes or vegetables. If they can serve it like that in the bar, why not in the dining room? Because of the hotel location we would risk staying again, but not on a break which included dinner.

We stayed here 12/7 for 1 night on our way home from The Highlands. Convenient as just off the A1. Our main reason for coming here was to see the S.S. Olympic restaurant. Given a nice welcome by the lady on reception. It’s great that you can arrive up to midnight, so very flexible. Turns out Alnwick is a really nice market town - we went for a walk not long having arrived. Our room (29) was OK. Clean & spacious. 1st floor. We faced onto where shops/pubs are. No air conditioning, so we had a hot night as the UK is in the middle of a heatwave. The window was open (obviously), but it was quite noisy at night up until a certain point with presumably pub punters & cars. The shower was good enough. We didn’t have an evening meal here, but breakfast (plentiful & tasty) was served in the Olympic Restaurant. It didn’t disappoint. Beautiful wood carving. Staff helpful. Felt the style of music that was playing didn’t really match the beautiful surroundings. Nice photographic memorabilia around the hotel. We could park outside easily for free as we arrived after 6pm on a Saturday & were leaving the next day. Pleased we can cross that off of our bucket list!
