The Tavern - Steakhouse and Lodge

On a 2 night stay in Alnwick we were reccomended to eat at the Market Tavern & Steakhouse. We booked a table the previous day as we were told it was advisable as it gets busy & we were so glad we did as we havd a great night & a wonderful meal in this busy but fabulously run inn. Immediatyely upon arrival (half an hour early for out booking ) we were greeted & welcomed by the staff as soon as we entered & waited while they took that tables order ( 2 mins). Despite being early our tablw was ready in the upper part of the Inn at the back which was already full and the whole place had a great lively atmosphere & plenty of staff on hand. Drinks quickly arrived & we ordered the grilled sardines & the garlic & spam fritters (who could not refuse those - a blast from the distant past !) as starters. Both of which were great, all food is cooked to order & the staff were really engaging & helpful creating a great atmosphere. Mains were Northumbria Shepherds Pie & Slow Braised Brisket which were equally superb. Desserts were equally delicious and with a good range of wines beers & spirits from which to choose mede for a great fun evening. We were superbly looked after by Eleanor & Liam all evening, not rushed & nothing was too much trouble - all the food passing through looked great & the team worked their socks off all evening yet maintaining a smile & cheerful disposition despite being really busy. Many places could learn a lot from the superb customer service across the entire team, great food, service & great night out.

Our stay We had a motorcycle and unfortunately someone tried to move it overnight, luckily it had steering lock and a chain on and was still upright, apart from that our stay was lovely, people very friendly and accommodating

Busy little bar/restaurant which in itself speaks volumes. Managed to get a table the first night and the food was that good we booked in for a second. Staff couldn't do enough and we only wished we were in the area longer to sample more of the menu!!! Keep up the good work guys

Nice distances from places of interest and food. The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the kitchen was out of action, but the staff were accommodating in this issue. I we really enjoyed are stay.

Clean and comfortable Very clean and comfortable, just what we needed for our 1 night weekend stay in Alnwick. Centrally located so close to all restaurants and bars. Thanks
