Amazing adventure on the backwaters of Alappuzha in Kerala. The Venice of the East 2 night rice barge cruise was relaxing with beautiful scenery ***** the way. Excellent for bird photography! Our crew of 3 were amazing! Meals were local Kerala dishes prepared with local spices and ingredients. Only wish we had booked a longer cruise!

Our rice boat tour was fantastic! We did a two-night excursion around the Kerala backwaters and enjoyed every minute. The boat’s crew was amazing….very friendly and attentive. The accommodations on board are very nice with all the amenities. The meals were delicious - an excellent mix of local and Indian foods. For bird enthusiasts, there are myriad birds including fish eagles, herons, kingfishers, cormorants, and bee-eaters. We hope to do another backwater cruise, but with friends who need to experience the beauty and peacefulness of the backwaters.

Wonderful calm 24 hrs floating around the lovely lakes and canals of Alappuzha being pampered by our crew…expert captain Sony, delicious food prepared by Rajeev and comforts in hospitality from Arkkan … thank you!! Nani … what a way to experience this magical place :D

Excellent overnight stay on houseboat. Sony was great as were the chef, who was exceptional. and crew member. Well worth doing the trip. The scenery and ambience was so different compared to other more frenetic sights and the roads in India.

This was a totally unique experience for us and it didn’t disappoint. The crew were brilliant, captain very engaging, cook was very proud of the food he served us and it was exceptional. The room was well appointed and spacious with en-suite bathroom. We had a canoe trip into the canal area which was also well done and got to see plenty of wildlife. The only blip was our first boat broke down with a broken crankshaft which could not be foreseen. It was handled really professionally, with explanation by the captain and fairly swift transfer to another boat of equal quality. We’d recommend this experience without hesitation.

A day and night aboard a houseboat is an absolute must and Xandari are perfect. We had a boat to ourselves and the crew of 3 looked after us like royalty. Don't think of looking elsewhere - Xandari really are very good indeed. The boat itself is spotless, the bedroom spacious and airconditioned, and the engine very quiet so you get the feeling of gliding over the water. Wonderful.

The experience was very enjoyable. Food was authentic and the most delicious we have had in kerala. The staff was very polite and helpful. We loved it here. The stay and amenities were comfortable. Ambience was cool. We would like to visit again. I would advise you to carry mosquito repellant for the trip.
