We stayed for two nights here. It’s a lovely location on the waterfront. We made the most of the facilities using the bikes before breakfast and also an afternoon Kayak ride through the canals with a guide. We also took the government ferry boat one morning up to the nearest small town. The staff at Emerald Isle are extremely professional and helpful. We enjoyed three meals at the homestead and they were well cooked and plentiful at a competitive price. They don’t mind you taking your own drinks and will chill for you. It’s a lovely place and gives you an opportunity to easily see the local life of the residents and workers around the backwaters.

An authentic property surrounded by friendly local people in the heart of the backwaters in Kerala. Various types of accommodation but the cottage is best. Typical local food but may not be to everyone’s taste but affordable. Property can suffer from a lack of hot water but not really an issue especially if staying a short period. Really helpful and friendly staff….our 2nd visit.

Beautiful place on the backwaters of Allepey. Great staff and friendly host. Food was delicious, rooms lovely and the beds were comfortable. The guesthouse is on 9 acres, with paddy fields in the back. Would definitely go back. You can also arrange to do activities such as kayaking or cycling via the host Vijo.

Absolut beautiful place! Old farmhouse, that is still owned by the family. The garden is stunning and they even have their own fish pond. The food is fresh delicious and homemade.I recommend to see the Backwaters by canoe and have a relaxing massage afterwards.

A wonderful homestay. We were made very welcome by the hosts. The room was lovely and the food excellent. Would definitely recommend the homestay for those wanting a relaxing stay by the backwaters. The host was happy to arrange additional activities for those wishing to explore the area. Tracy and Tim, England

Amazing place to stay. Beautiful house in old style. Room was super en very beautiful. Host and personel were very kind and servicerable. Many facilities available such as bikes, kayaks en massage. The homestay is in the Backwater with padifields.

Cadre paisible et magnifique le long des backwaters. Maison ancienne en bois précieux, très bien entretenue, superbe chambre et douche à l'extérieur. Toute l'équipe est accueillante, nombreuses activités proposées. Nos enfants ont adoré pêcher avec le garçonnet de la maison. Je recommande cet endroit mais surtout à ceux qui voyagent avec un chauffeur car c'est un peu isolé et il faut avoir recours à des taxis.

We had a lovely stay at Emerald Isle. It was an unique, interestingly built Keralan style long house. We were warmly welcomed by the owner who spoke excellent English and offered us a refreshing drink while telling us all we needed to know. Our room (and everywhere) was immaculately clean with aircon and everything you needed. The grounds were also well kept. Meals were home-style served under a canopy and plenty of it. There was a wide range of delicious Keralan food all of which were explained and served to us. We were only staying for one night but it is a charming and relaxing place to stay and I would definitely recommend a visit.

It is like paradise there. A lovely family showed us their house and garden. All beautiful. The rooms have an outside shower and it is so relaxing to stay there. We did cycling and a cooking class and we felt so at home. The family was kind and helping us with everything we asked. It is a serene place to sleep. Thanks a lot!
