The hotel is located in Alkmaar, a beautiful city not far from Amsterdam. You can walk there from the main station, only 10 minutes.
The hotel is based in a renovated school, which makes it very interesting with its own appeal.
The front staff was very nice and even recommended us restaurants in the vicinity, plus provided us with a map.
The breakfast was delicious!

Das Personal ist freundlich ,Frühstück ist super .Die Zimmer sind ok. Man kann sich im Frühstücksraum bis 23 Uhr Kaffee usw holen ist im Preis drin.

De 4 sterren is het m.i. niet waard, maar het is een leuk hotel met een goede prijs-kwaliteitverhouding. In het centrum van Alkmaar, dus alles op loopafstand. Parkeren op het terrein van het hotel is in principe mogelijk, maar er is heel weinig ruimte en het terrein is altijd vrij toegankelijk. Wij parkeerden in de parkeergarage om de hoek, wat ruim 5 euro goedkoper was dan bij het hotel. De ontvangst in het hotel was erg vriendelijk en alles werd goed uitgelegd. We kregen ook een stadsplattegrond, wat erg prettig is. Bij de receptie is de hele dag gratis koffie en thee beschikbaar. Erg fijn, aangezien er in de kamer geen koffie/thee voorzieningen zijn. De receptie is overigens na 23:00 verlaten en contactgegevens voor noodgevallen hebben we niet gekregen. In de nacht is er dus niemand van het hotel bereikbaar. Het gebouw was ooit een school en die geschiedenis is goed zichtbaar, wat een bijzonder karakter aan het hotel geeft. De kamers zijn heel basic. De bedden zijn goed, met vooral heel goede kussens. De schoonmaak van de kamer kan iets beter. De badkamer is klein, maar toereikend. De waterdruk in onze kamer stelde teleur, waardoor douchen minder fijn was dan verwacht. Het ontbijt was minder uitgebreid dan wij gewend zijn in hotels met 4 sterren. Maar er was voldoende en alles werd goed aangevuld. Alles bij elkaar genomen is dit hotel voor deze prijs en op deze locatie wel aan te bevelen.

Bottom line: this is a good hotel in a great location. Perfect distance between the train station and downtown. Easy 10-minute walk from station. Friendly staff. Building has interesting architecture and history. Breakfast was excellent. Very responsive to our questions via email. Room was spacious. A few small things: elevator is out, which is not great with heavy luggage, no fan in bathroom, and we were told they could coordinate off-site laundry, which really meant directing us to a service across town I could have looked up on my own.

Bed too soft
This was good, but sleeping was not easy. The bed is too soft. This is an old building totally fresh inside the room and modern, but still there are windows with a single glass. So in winter it's better to keep the warm airco, which is also a little bit noisy if you do like to sleep in silence.

It’s a cold, drafty building with some strange electrical setups: in order to keep the heat on the bathroom light had to be on all night. It’s a little hard to walk around the hotel because of the layout.
