The Level at Melia Alicante

Fabulous experience for our group of running friends. This is the third year we have stayed here when participating in the Alicante 10k race. The staff are always pleasant, friendly and attentive. Great breakfasts and lots of snacks and drinks during the day. Thanks you Roao and Cynthia.

We have just returned from a three day stay at The Level Melia Alicante and I am afraid my review has some negatives. But firstly to the good reviews - beautiful lounge with all day drinks, coffee and treats, extremely comfortable bed and excellent housekeeping and staff. Our marina view room on the 5th floor was super for afternoon sun on the balcony but at the end of a very long dark corridor, in fact the ‘Level’ area of the hotel is quite some distance from the hotel entrance. Unfortunately I could not recommend ‘The Level ‘ to anyone with any degree of mobility issues mainly due to the distance and also as the bath with shower over it is very high and there are no safety bars to enable getting in and out. There may however be disabled rooms more suitable so please ask before booking. As I have said previously, the Level lounge is beautiful in both decor and comfort with a gorgeous view of the beautiful Postiquet beach but be warned, when you book, make sure you book breakfast as it is very unclear whether it is included in the upgrade and you will be charged separately at €24 per person per day - the cold buffet is very good with cheeses, salamis, cold meats, fruit and a nice bread selection but the cooked breakfast is rather dismal and disappointing. We would probably stay in the Melia when next in Alicante for its location to the beach and Alicante old town but would not upgrade to The Level sadly.

For the fourth time we stayed at the level Meliá Alicante. Its location makes it superior over other hotels in town. Service at the Level lounge was excellent. Morning breakfast; we were welcomed with friendly staff where wide spread of cold and hot items in addition to the natural fresh squeezed orange juice were offered. The lounge was not crowded as we expected and there were enough free tables and chairs throughout the day. Evening tapas dishes were good and nicely presented. We attended the Christmas Eve’s celebration and it was really well organised. In particular, I would like to highlight the excellent well-prepared X’mas Eve’s dinner. We enjoyed very much all the dishes and especially the traditional Spanish lamb shoulder, which was mouth melting of an excellent lamb meat quality which I thought it was a “Lechato” type; tender juicy lamb that taste like turkey/lamb meat, we loved it. The New year Gala was also a fantastic Spanish celebration that painted a magical feelings of joy on us. We thank very much the chef who organised the dinner of both events for his excellent work. The hotel has a bar located close to the front door, nice place but offer limited taps. We dined once at the hotel’s main restaurant Trasluz. We ordered “ Arroz del Senyoret” and was unfortunately below our expectations, namely, the rice was not cooked properly and seafood items were chewy rubber-like in texture, probably over cooked and perhaps not fresh. On other occasion, we ordered spaghetti bolognaise and was not tasty and missing Oregano and other Italian spices. Alicante is a nice place and there is always something to see in town and by the way, most exhibitions (art and other) were free to enter. Park Palmeral is nice to spend sunny day there and it is not very far, about 45 minutes walk from the city. The botanic/palm garden Heurto del Cura located in Elche town is another interesting place to visit. We enjoyed very much our trip to Alicante and we wish to thank staff of the Level at Melia Alicante for their warm hospitality. Big thanks to the two señoras who prepared the mornings egg-dishes every day and certainly not to forget Señoras who kept our suite clean every day and thanks for the present we received upon our departure. We will certainly visit you whenever we come to Alicante!
