Barceló Hotels Hotels in Alicante

Very nice hotel and room but no welcome water in room / no kettle or access to making hot drinks in room / no mini fridge in room , we could here people in other rooms have bed fun so sound proof is not good , I would book again on my second Choice but would not book on first choice. Hotel is near the beach We are at reception if they had complimentary water and they pointed me to a vending machine. This was 11 o’clock at night next door and purchase water, vending machine prices. All round a hood 2 - 3 star hotel

Ideally placed close to transport, sights, old town and restaurants this city hotel maintains the standards expected from Barcelo. Our room was on second floor and overlooked the road at the front - we arrived about an hour ahead of official Check In time but were able to go straight up, unpack and have a quick wander before dark. Receptionists were efficient and welcoming and provided the information required about the hotel and facilities. Large comfortable bed with a selection of pillows and cushions to adjust to suit individual preferences. (We didn't find the room was too hot as other reviewers had written) Towelling robes and slippers were provided even though we hadn't expected them. There was also a coffee machine and a kettle so perhaps previous feedback about the lack of drinks facilities in the room has been acted upon?? The complimentary coffee from the machine in Reception was pretty decent too. The bathroom was ”compact” but had a good sized shower area with rainfall and handheld shower options and plenty of hot water with good pressure at all times. Toiletries in dispensers at basin and in the shower were good quality, towels changed daily as required and daily cleaning was a good standard. We had a small problem with the hand held showerhead coming apart but this was fixed once reported. Our room was more or less opposite the lift and entry door to the stairway but we weren't distrubed by any noise or banging doors. Breakfast was excellent. We anticipated a bit of a crush as the dining area didn't appear to be that large but no problem to get a table without waiting nor were there any issues queueing at the buffet food stations. Fresh fruit juices, water and Cava available. A selection of hot drinks from an easy to operate machine (no queues!) along with sachets of teas and coffee. Fruit, various yogurts, cold meats and cheeses, savoury topped breads and rolls available along with bread rolls and sliced bread selection with various spreads, toasting machine which again didn't cause significant queueing. The cooked selection was warm rather than hot but plenty of choice to suit all tastes. A vast array of pastries, cakes and sweet products to satisfy all. Staff always alert to clear and reset tables and all the food and drinks were monitored and replenished throughout breakfast hours (07.00 to 10.30 weekdays, 07.30 to 11.00 at weekends) The one way street where the hotel is situated wasn't too noisy overnight even in our room at the front of the building and generally Alicante felt safe but had a good buzzy ambience. I would readily recommend this hotel but probably only for a short city break of 3-4 days maximum which is probably enough time to cover the main sights and sounds offered by the splendid Spanish city by the sea!
