Wingrove House

If you're in the area you will find a warm welcome and quality experience at Wingrove House. Having visited before, we would stay again. Thank-you to all the staff for making our visit a really relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Just got back from a one night stay at Wingrove House. We've stayed in Alfriston twice before and wanted to try a different hotel. So glad we chose Wingrove. Lovely staff, from reception to restaurant and breakfast. I appreciated the words they spoke seemed like genuine words, and not something they had been trained to say. All the staff seemed happy and at ease in their work. The restaurant menu was varied and I could have easily chosen several things as all sounded delicious.We will have to come back to sample more! We stayed in a Deluxe room and it was absolutely delightful and very comfortable. I appreciated was the 10 minute phone call to our room prior to breakfast service closing (as my husband remembered the timing wrong and thought it closed half an hour later). Breakfast was also very good indeed. The hotel is situated in a quieter spot at the end of the high street, perfectly placed to explore the South Downs on foot or by car. Pretty little shops along the High Street. The small general store is fabulous, and provided us with lovely home-made sandwiches and treats for our walk up on the Downs. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Great little hotel that really needs to find day-to-day consistency with its quite restricted menu. Evening meals varied significantly in quality from a Friday to Saturday. I'm not sure if we'd take that chance and stay two nights again and eat in the restaurant both nights. Breakfast was a little lame both mornings if truth be told - rubbery sourdough toast and scrambled egg with the texture of cous-cous. Otherwise service was tip-top - faultless and caring. The kitchen really does need evaluating for it's impact on the clientele. Good winelist.

We had an excellent room with a lovely outlook onto the front garden, well appointed bathroom and comfortable bed. The whole team throughout the hotel were always pleasant and efficient. The breakfasts and restaurant meals were excellent. The location is perfect for both the local amenities in Alfriston and for exploring this wonderful area of the South Downs. This was our second stay and we’ll certainly be back.

We loved the ambience and comfort of the Wingrove. Visiting for our anniversary, our trip couldn't have been more comfortable. The hotel team were extremely friendly and helpful and we really loved how cheerful the overall atmosphere was.

Excellent accommodation. Very high standard of cuisine. Staff were attentive - a pleasure to talk to. Easy parking onsite. Spectacular view of the garden and surrounding countryside. The hotel is situated in one of the most picturesque villages, I would stay there again - four days was too short a stay.

We had another good break and enjoyed all the meals and accommodation. We have booked another break later in the year. We thoroughly recommend this lovely small hotel for a restful stay.

Great stay with lots of amazing and scenic local hiking trails. The restaurant and rooms are fantastic.

The hotel and the village are stunning. It’s just the type of hotel we like. Sadly, lots of steps, but unavoidable under the circumstances. The staff are really friendly, helpful, informative about the locality and pleasant. Will definitely stay if we visit the area again.
