Quality Hotel Waterfront

Hotel location is really good. Easy to reach many restaurants. The service is very impressive . My friend just recognized at the airport that he forget his wallet and the reception managed very well to deliver it to us before our departure.

After couple of winter visits for business I now wanted to have stay (mid July) with my wife for leasure. I booked a nicer room (suite). We got a room at sea side, which was really great. The view, the atmosphere, seeing ships coming / leaving. Great. We used this stay for a Alesund visit (walk around, Aksla, Sunmore museum and Atlantik Aquarium) and a full day fjord trip. The location of the hotel is perfectly close to public transportation. (also taxi is okay) The staff was good, recognized me from the business trips. I have to admit...peak season July implies the rates are higher! But this period they offer a nice and cheap buffet! Unfortanely the minibar was empty. I would appreciate some drinks or snacks available. At least when beeing Strawberry member.

First of all, the service was excellent — especially thanks to Hanna! She went above and beyond to help us after we were very disappointed with the first rooms we were given. When we first checked in, the room we got looked nothing like what was advertised on the website. It felt like we’d been tricked: no view, old furniture, not modern at all, and with a window facing the parking lot. We complained and were moved to another room — but this one was even worse, with no view at all. The window faced a wall, and the bathroom had absolutely no privacy. You could both hear and see the other person through glass walls. The bathroom design was laughable and quite ridiculous. The next day, we finally got a room closer to what was shown online. It had a beautiful ocean view and was modern and stylish. We were happy with this room — although it was still quite hot, and the AC didn’t work properly. The lobby area is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen in a hotel — very atmospheric and welcoming. There are lots of games like shuffleboard and pool, which actually made us want to spend time there. The bar was also great, with good drinks. The breakfast was amazing! The eggs were perfect, and the overall selection was very good. One downside is the very expensive parking outside the hotel — 300kr per night is far too much. We would have given the hotel 5/5 if we hadn’t had to move through three different rooms just to get something close to what was advertised. All in all, we recommend this hotel for its charm and great service — but management really needs to update their website with accurate photos of all the rooms. As it stands now, guests risk feeling disappointed when they arrive.
