Imlil Authentic Toubkal Lodge

We went 7 people for an Authentic Moroccan cooking class with the Family. This was an amazing experience. We prepared traditional food, Tagine, CousCous, bread and tea. Best food we've had on the trip and - very much recommended!

Where to start...we absolutely loved our stay in the Lodge. First of all the valley of Imlil is such an amazing and peaceful place that only who stayed there can understand. The Lodge is in the middle of a typical village, with a wonderful view on the mountains and a big terrace where guests can relax to enjoy the view. Everything is clean and cozy, furnitures are traditional in order to feel Imlil culture. The food is amazing and almost everything is homemade for that we thank Bahijja and Abdul (thank you so much for making our stay a pleasure and for making us feel at home). Lahcen gave us great advices for exploring the mountains around and organized the guide for our trekking on the Toubkal. We could not ask for more, really.

In the heart of Morocco lies a hidden gem: Imlil. This mountain village offers a gateway to one of North Africa's most iconic peaks: Toubkal. During my recent visit, I had the privilege of staying in a remarkable lodge and immersing my friends and myself in the warm hospitality of the Berber people. From the moment I arrived at the lodge, I was greeted by friendly smiles and warm Berber tea. Lahcem and the rest of the staff exuded a genuine sense of warmth and hospitality, making me feel instantly at home. The traditional Berber architecture of the hostel blended harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, offering stunning views of the Atlas Mountains. The cozy common areas were adorned with beautiful rugs and traditional artifacts, creating a welcoming and authentic atmosphere. Embarking on the ascent of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, required proper preparation and guidance. The hostel staff proved invaluable in ensuring a safe and memorable trekking experience, including two experienced trail runners who were key for enjoying and excellent experience in the ascent to Toubkal. They provided comprehensive information on the trail, weather conditions, and necessary equipment, helping me make informed decisions. Their expertise and local knowledge were indispensable, allowing me to embark on the adventure with confidence. The Berber people, from Atlas Mountains, have preserved their unique culture and way of life for centuries. Staying in the hostel provided an exceptional opportunity to connect with the local community and gain a deeper understanding of their customs and traditions. The hostel arranged for immersive cultural experiences, including the chance to savor authentic Berber cuisine. These encounters allowed me to forge meaningful connections and gain profound insights into the Berber way of life. The genuine warmth and generosity of the Berber people truly made my stay in Imlil unforgettable. From sharing meals with local families to engaging in lively conversations with fellow travelers, I felt a sense of belonging and camaraderie. The Berber community's unwavering hospitality and their willingness to share their rich cultural heritage left an indelible mark on my heart. My experience in Imlil, Morocco, was a harmonious blend of natural beauty, adventurous exploration, and cultural immersion. The exceptional hostel, with its impeccable service, knowledgeable staff, and comfortable accommodations, served as the perfect base for my Toubkal expedition. The majestic landscapes of the Atlas Mountains and the genuine hospitality of the Berber people made this journey an unforgettable one. I wholeheartedly recommend this lodge to any traveler seeking an authentic Moroccan adventure, filled with breathtaking scenery, warm encounters, and memories that will last a lifetime.

A great stay!

Our stay at Lachens home was absolutely incredible. We felt so welcome by all of his family. The accommodation is perfect and comfortable and set in such a nice part of Imlil. We loved every meal and snack we had while staying with him. We got to cook dinner one night with his family which was such good fun and a great experience. We can’t wait to return!

The stay at Lachens was sort of like a dream. The view from the balcony overlooking the mountains is so pretty. We are city folks so for us it was a couple of days to be able to dis connect and be in tune with the nature. Imlil is a serious trekking town but we are not hard core trekkers. So lachen arranged a guide with a mule to take us around the villages and surroundings which became the high light of our trip! We would have never done that much walking on our own but the guide even though didn’t know English was the most kindest knowledgeable guide who knew the terrain like the back of his hand. We felt safe and secure the whole time. Lachen can also arrange many tours if you want. He also arranged the taxi to and fro from Marrakesh at eve reasonable cost which was nice. The prepared dinner and breakfast also was delicious. The trek towards his house is very hilly and steep but we both were fine but just keep in mind for folks with mobility issues. But if one is coming to spend at Imlil, staying at valley serves no purpose. Staying at places high up is how you can enjoy the beauty and Laches place is perfect for that. This is no 5 star comfort place but him and his family took care of us very well. We felt so special and very taken care of which many 5 star places in the same trip we stayed at, we never felt!
