Food: Breakfast was widely rated as very good, diverse, and served until late morning, accommodating various schedules. Guests also enjoyed the dinner buffet, although some noted limited variety over longer stays.

I was really looking forward to my stay at the Isla Chania Brown Hotel (supposedly part of the Hilton group) because, as a Hilton Gold member, I highly value the Hilton standards, but unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The service was the worst I've ever experienced in a hotel – or rather, service practically nonexistent here.
We received an unfriendly welcome right from check-in. No greeting, no smile, no welcome drink – nothing. The supposed hotel manager, Julian, welcomed us and was unfortunately extremely rude and disinterested. I can't understand how someone like that could hold a management position in a "5-star hotel"...
That's not a great way to start a vacation.
For lunch, we had exactly the same meal for 7 days: a choice between a sandwich, bagel, or wrap – no variety, no selection, nothing that met a high standard.
At breakfast, the tables were only cleared upon request, and even then the staff seemed completely listless. Even worse: You have to get everything yourself, including water, coffee, and cutlery. If you ask, they just rudely point in the direction. This, too, is completely out of character for a 5-star hotel—and certainly not what you can expect as a loyal Hilton guest.
You only get one free 0.2-liter bottle of water per person per day in your room. If you want more, you have to pay...
In a 5-star hotel that advertises itself as part of the Hilton group? Truly unacceptable.
The only positive aspects were the beautiful grounds and the modernly designed room—but that alone isn't enough to overlook all the other points.
Conclusion: The Isla Chania Brown Hotel is far from Hilton standards. For me, as a Gold Member, it was absolutely disappointing. This hotel is more reminiscent of a good 3-star hotel (although you get more service there), but definitely not an upscale resort. It should urgently be checked whether it truly belongs to this hotel group.

Beautiful hotel and food but far from town so you need a car or to pay for taxis.

This hotel seems to be officially part of the Hilton chain (Curio collection), but you do not really notice that. Our Hilton Gold status was not honored in any way. The hotel has a lot of potential, but still it is lacking a lot of what makes a five star experience. The rooms and the grounds are very nice. The design and décor are modern and very stylish. It is located by the sea, although it is not possible to access the sea via the rocks. There is a platform but it was unfortunately closed. As was the beach bar and the a la carte restaurant. It’s not understandable why those facilities are all closed in the middle of the high season. This left us having dinner at the main restaurant, which is buffet only. The service there is horrific. You are not shown to your table and it was almost impossible to order something until the end of the dinner. We asked multiple times what we could order as “all inclusive guests”, responses were inconsistent or not given, then they brought the restaurant manager and we finally (towards the end of our dinner) got a bottle of very cheap wine. It was placed on our table without comment, and without opening and pouring it! I like animals, I like cats, but I do not like cats in a 5* restaurant if they climb on the tables and eat from the freshly brought food. No joke, cats eating the foods from the guest, one was licking the soup that we just brought. Waiters and waitresses either don’t see this or are indifferent. As stated, the room was modern and nice, good coffee machine – but the capsules were not refilled. This makes the machine unusable after three coffees or so… The pool bar is a mixed bag, one waiter (Mateo) was really professional and friendly, others were just sitting around in groups talking to each other, smoking, ignoring the guests. The pool bar was supposed to be open until 6pm, but they actually close at 5:30. They did not want to bring a drink that we ordered before 5:30, when we reminded them at about 6:45… Last but not least, even though we had “all inclusive” (which actually includes only a subset of the drinks) we were charged approx. 60€ for drinks we did not have after checkout (e.g. a beer, nobody every drank beer). Tried to settle that via Hilton chat app and e-mail, but they are not responsive. Very bad customer service. All in all, nice hotel grounds, nice rooms, lots of potential, but staff needs urgent training. And they have to open the a la carte restaurant (which is advertised on their website)!

Mixed Experience at Isla Brown – Beautiful Setting, But Service Falls Short My family and I have just returned from a week’s stay at Isla Brown. While the setting is undeniably beautiful and there were a few standout aspects, our overall experience was mixed. Pros: • Mary (Manager) was fantastic – she was incredibly helpful in arranging excursions and promptly assisted us with changing rooms when we found that our “sea view” room only had a glimpse of the sea from the corner outside. • Stunning sea views – the surrounding scenery is truly breathtaking. • Spacious rooms – comfortable and well laid out. • Relaxed atmosphere – the hotel wasn’t overcrowded, meaning we never had to fight for sunbeds. • Smaller resort – which we appreciated for the quieter, more intimate feel. Cons: • Service was inconsistent – while a few staff members like Alex were excellent, most were unhelpful and lacking in attentiveness. • Food was disappointing – limited variety, especially for a resort of this standard. • No kids’ club – despite being advertised, there was none available during our stay. • Only one buffet restaurant – which served both breakfast and dinner, leading to repetition. • Lunch options were minimal – only snacks served by the pool, with very little variety. • Spa booking process was frustrating – it took over 40 minutes just to book a massage. • Housekeeping was lacking – rooms were not cleaned daily, which was surprising and inconvenient. With a few improvements to service, dining options, and family facilities, Isla Brown could truly be a standout destination. For now, it falls short of expectations for a four-star experience.

Absolutely Appalling – Avoid at All Costs This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst travel experiences we’ve ever endured. The complete absence of hospitality, service, and even basic human courtesy made what should have been a relaxing holiday feel more like a poorly managed survival challenge. 🧼 Basic essentials like soap, shampoo, and toilet paper were left unstocked for days—a disgrace in any hotel, let alone one claiming to cater to families. Complaints were made repeatedly, even directly to the owner, who was shockingly rude and dismissive, treating guest concerns like an inconvenience rather than a responsibility. 🛎️ Reception staff were utterly useless, uninterested, and flat-out refused to assist with anything not falling directly into their narrow job scope. It’s as though their training began and ended with saying “not my department.” 🍽️ The main restaurant was randomly closed—without warning, without signage, without any reason given. When it was open, the buffet was a free-for-all of mystery slop. No food items were labeled, making it a stressful guessing game for anyone with allergies, dietary restrictions, or basic curiosity. It was as thoughtless as it was hazardous. 🏊 Pool staff were just as apathetic—no assistance, no professionalism, just blank stares and indifference. The poolside and lobby toilets were left without toilet roll or soap all week, despite multiple requests to refill them. Truly unacceptable. 🧹 Housekeeping was almost nonexistent. Rooms were barely touched, beds half-made, no replenishment of anything that had run out, and no signs of supervision or standards. 🎢 For families eagerly anticipating a hard-earned holiday, this place was a crushing letdown. What you get here is not a resort—it’s a case study in mismanagement and neglect. The atmosphere reeks of “we don’t care,” from the staff right up to the owner. There’s a chip missing, and the only thing the system knows how to say is: Computer says no. We will not be coming back—and strongly urge others to look elsewhere.

We had the most amazing stay at Isla Brown Chania resort. I never considered Crete for a holiday before, and I couldn’t have been more wrong - it’s a stunning island with incredibly warm and welcoming people. The hotel itself is perfectly located - just 15 minutes from the airport and about 30 minutes from Chania. While you’ll need to hire a car or taxi to reach the local tavernas, the hotel generously offers a shuttle service to both Zorba Beach (which is absolutely breathtaking) and Chania town. Isla Brown Chania is modern, full of character, and most importantly, some truly lovely people work there . We were lucky enough to stay in the Honeymoon Suite with a friend — an absolutely beautiful room featuring a private pool, a large terrace, and unforgettable sunsets. The spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, and soft linens made it feel like true luxury. The hotel features some breathtaking views and even has a little chapel. Breakfast was good - a generous and delicious spread that varied slightly each day, keeping things fresh and exciting. But the best part of our stay? The people. Amanda, Marie, Georgys, Argyra, Alexandros — thank you all for your kindness and hospitality. You made us feel genuinely welcome, and we enjoyed every moment because of you. Efxaristo poli! We can’t wait to return.

We got married in Chania and stayed at the Isla Brown for a week along with family and friends. From check in to check out it was fantastic. We arrived late at night and were greeted with a glass of prosecco and nothing but smiles. Our room and view were absolutely stunning. Our first morning there we were greeted and surprised with a beautiful plate of fresh fruit and a note welcoming us to the property. We had a bout 20 people in all staying on this property and we all agreed it was like being at a "White Lotus" hotel for a fraction of the price. The pool was fantastic and there were always available chairs. The natural beach and pathways to it were fantastic. We didn't realize that breakfast was included and it was a feast! I can't remember the last time I ate breakfast six days in a row! The bar area was perfect for glorious sunsets and end of day gatherings. On the morning of our wedding we received a complimentary bottle of wine and fresh fruit with a lovely congratulatory note from the staff making our day even more perfect. Last but not least - the staff. Each and every person there from the desk crew, to the bar staff to the pool staff, the spa staff were top notch and nothing but helpful in every way. My new husband and I intend on returning in 2027 and we will definitely be staying at the Isla Brown. It was, by far, the best property I've ever booked. Thank you to all who were there that week (June 22-June 29). We are forever grateful.

I had the pleasure of staying here for a work trip. None of the words I can say will do this place justice. The views from my room are some of the best on the island. The staff were eager to help when I asked for suggestions on things to do and places to eat. Everything they suggested that I had time to do, I will remember for a lifetime. I cannot wait to bring my wife here in the near future. It’s a romantic paradise.
