Hotel Tara Machupicchu

Good value for money. Good service. Breakfast variety is okay. Location ain't too bad too given that the town is pretty small and walkable.

This hotel accommodation was arranged by Alpaca Expeditions via their 2D/1N hotel trek package. When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, we found the room size and bed(s) size adequate for 3. However, the bathroom was in bad shape. The shower door did not completely shut, so water made its way to the bathroom floor during a shower. There was evidence of black mold on the ceiling in the shower, bathroom, and painted over in the main room ceiling, also evidence of black mold in the grout in the shower and bathroom floor as the bathroom had no ventilation. Faucet in the bathroom sink was loose and broken and the room overall had a funky smell. Noticed this hotel had lots of good reviews on TA, so maybe it is just this room #103- but would personally not stay here again.

Our stay was very comfortable, with the largest bed I’ve ever seen! Our ‘king size’ bed was the size of two queen mattresses. Very comfortable and we drifted off to the sound of the river outside our room. Some of the best hotel sleep I’ve ever had. The bathroom had all the amenities; shampoo, conditioner and hair dryer (and super fluffy embroidered towels). Due to the humid environment we used a space heater provided by the host, and it dried towels and any damp clothes very well. The location was far enough away from the central plaza, so noise wasn’t an issue. Everything is within a 15 minute walk. Including the train station and buses to Machu Picchu ( the reason for our visit). Our host provided bag storage on our last day, due to a late train departure. I highly recommend this boutique hotel.

Excellent service and staff were very attentive, especially thanks to Alcides very kind and friendly. He likes to go the extra mile for the customer, and he also we you very good recommendations for the rest of the trip in Perú. Viva hotel Tara.

We had a great experience at Hotel Tara Machupicchu. Alcides was working the front desk when we checked in and was incredibly friendly and helpful—he made us feel right at home. The beds were very comfortable, which was exactly what we needed after a long day of hiking to Machu Picchu. It was also such a treat to have a hot shower! The hotel is in a convenient location, and we were especially glad to find a laundry service just a short walk away. Overall, a great place to rest and recharge. Highly recommend!
