I loved this hotel!! A couple feet away from the city square. Service was great. Breakfast was delicious. The view from the room was amaaaazing! Highly recommend

I stayed at Gringo Bill's in 1987 when Bill was still around. It was a dumpy backpacker's hostel, but it was cheap ($5/night) so everyone stayed there. Bill was an old hippie who was on a walkabout in the 60's or 70s, came to the Andes and liked it. Aguas Calientes was a dumpy, undeveloped little town on the way to MP. Now I hear Gringo Bill's has "amenities." Blow dryers. Indoor plumbing!! All you 3-star people should stop complaining. Looks like the whole town has been developed.

Es un hotel pequeño, limpio, con buen servicio, tiene desayuno incluido, esta en el centro del pueblo, cerca del tren (5 mins) , buenas amenidades. El personal es amable, las camas un poco duras pero son cómodas. Te resguardan el equipaje si subes a machupichu. Checkout a las 10am

Gringo Bill’s is kind of hard to find, but is very close to the main square, restaurants, buses, train, and shopping. It was nice, clean and comfortable. We loved the breakfast. They kindly accommodated our need for a room during our last day (for an exhausted member of our party) for which we are very appreciative. I selected Gringo Bill's because the last time I was at Machu Picchu (1996), they were full. Reservations are more difficult. We tried to reserve rooms directly with Gringo Bill's, but the language barrier was too hard to navigate. Watch out for overcharges with consolidators.

We have been staying in 3star hotels in Peru and this is not comparable. Bathroom not clean and electric wire in shower. Heater in room but not enough. Room very basic and worn out furniture. My touroperator booked. But could find much cheaper 3star hotels nearby. Often no one at the desk. Luggage cabinet unlocked. Anyone can just walk in. Jacuzzi not working. Many reviews complaining about smell. And it does smell humid. A lot of noise. To end positive there is an elevator and full breakfast from 5 am including eggs. Think you can find better deals.

Certainly can't beat the location. Few steps from the main square & 160m from the railway station. My room was compact but everything worked fine. The bed had clean linens & afforded me a comfortable sleep. The bathroom had good hot water & pressure. Overall, a comfortable stay albeit at a price.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Location of hotel was close to all the excitement of Aguas Calientes but still quiet. We woke up to no hot water for the shower. Toilet seat was broken as well. Our stay was still pleasant. Just don’t go expecting a five star resort.
