We really enjoyed our weeks stay at Santa Marina Beach Hotel. We upgraded, due to it being end of season, it wasn’t very expensive to do so, the double seaview room had stunning views over the beach and the uninhabited island, Agios Theodoros. It was so relaxing to be able to hear the sea. I was so pleased we had a sea view room. The hotel room was serviced everyday, we had clean bath and beach towels daily. There was adequate storage and the beds were comfortable. We loved sitting out on the balcony. The hotel was extremely clean in all areas. We chose to stay half board as we had a hire car and so was off exploring most days. Breakfast at the hotel was my favourite, we always had a table outside in the morning , the outside dining area is next to the beautiful beach. It’s just the most loveliest of places to enjoy breakfast, there was also a fabulous choice of hot and cold food every morning, the chef cooked fresh pancakes each day. The hotel has its own resident duck who waddles around by the beach, he or she obviously visited once and loved it so much, decided to stay, very friendly too and so cute to see. The evening food choices were absolutely fantastic, they definitely cater for everyone’s needs, we always passed on our thanks to the staff for their hard work for creating some wonderful dishes , particularly the pastry dishes. Ifigenia in particular (I hope I’ve spelt her name correctly) was just an amazing lady. All of the staff were just so friendly and worked extremely hard , it was the end of the season but they were still smiling and happy to help. We had drinks in the bar each evening after dinner and on some of the nights there were singers/musicians, a pleasant experience. Bus stops for both directions are on the main road outside of the hotel which is very convenient. We did go and walk around the pools and gardens which are situated in the neighbouring sister hotel, literally a few minutes walk, the pools and the sun beds looked great, the garden areas are very well looked after and very pretty. I would not hesitate to stay here again if visiting Chania area.

Vacation I stayed at this hotel for one week and paid 170 euros per night. It states that its a 4 star hotel. Its maximum a 3 star hotel. Whoever states otherwise hasent travelled in their life. Rooms are like 100 years old. Bathrooms are old and the waterpipes loud. In the room you cab here your neighbor talk, go to the toilet and whenever a neighbor door closes its like a bomb going of. Impossible to sleep. Mosquitoes in the room and i spent the night killing all of them because it’s impossible to sleep aince they keep biting you. So take into consideration to apend 2 hours every night killing mosquitoes. Pool was old and very few sunbeds. If you are not the first person to the pool you will have to amtry and get a bed at the beach. Beach area not so nice. Too many rocks before getting into the water. Breakfast was the worst experience ever. Very few varieties and tasteless and to so attractive at all. Restaurant had no aircondition so you start the dlday sweating or you can sit outaide and sweat in the sun. The dont have a lugageroom which is important since there are many people with a later flight than morning flights. If going to grecce if you dont book a 5 star hotel dont go there. And for the prices they are charging it’s definitely not worth going. They have such a low standard that it’s ridiculous. Around the hotel area there are shops and restaurants. All the shops prives are ridiculously high. Alomst a scam for what they are charging tourists.

We sent this review to Jet2 Customer Service on Sunday 6thg October 2024 for their comments, prior to publishing it in its entirety on Tripadvisor. I finally had a phone call from them this morning (Friday 22nd November 2024). They did not seem to be very interested in the claims below: We have booked and travelled with Jet2 many times over the past few years and have always found the arrangements impeccable. This time, although the flights and Representatives were of their usual fantastic standard, we must say the Transfers and the Hotel were not. The Transfers The transfer was by coach and was very full. The coach stopped on the main road for us to get off. This was not so bad, but on the return journey, we had to wait 40 minutes on the far side of the same busy road, with no shade or seating, for the transfer to arrive. Taking our cases across the road was very difficult. There was absolutely no need for this as the Hotel has a large area outside Reception and massive in and out gates. The coach could have easily parked in front of reception on both journeys and we could have waited in the cool of the hotel, rather than baking in the noon sun for an incredibly long length of time. The Hotel We always stay in 4 or 5 star hotels when travelling with Jet2, and they have always lived up to our expectation, until now! When we arrived, we were about 40 minutes late, (nearly midnight). There were 2 more couples with us from the Transfer. We were told that there was a “plumbing issue” between our our booked room and the room next door to be used by one of the other couples. Therefore we would have to be moved across the road from our previously booked Sea View room on the coast side of the road. The room we were given for the night was on the far side of the road, up a large slope and then stairs. I need to use a stick after 3 lower body joint replacements. I booked the coast side of the resort as the brochure said it was flat, and from reading various reviews of the hotel, the land side is very steep with loads of stairs. I was not happy with this situation. The next day we were given our room, funnily enough, AFTER check out time, Room 101. The other couple were given room 300 and something. Obviously, there was no plumbing problem between the rooms. A few days later I was talking to a lady at the bar who had been moved to another hotel for 2 nights because of a “Plumbing problem” with her allocated room. This started me thinking and I looked back through the Tripadvisor 2 star and below reviews. The incidence of people not being allocated their room, especially when they were last to check in on various days, with the excuse of “plumbing problems” or “technical issues” was huge. This can only make me speculate that the Hotel regularly overbooks. We do not expect this from a Jet2 endorsed Hotel. I will now list other problems with the hotel: It is supposed to be “All Inclusive”. Their “All Inclusive” is lacking as no

What can I say about this hotel only absolutely amazing, we stayed in room 537 on the “pool side” of the road from 15th October until the 22nd…it was mine and the wife’s first holiday alone since 1998, and our first all inclusive…all hotel staff were brilliant and went above and beyond, food was amazing… definitely coming back in September 2025 as hopefully it will be less windy lol…thanks to all the staff for making our holiday one to remember 👍

Room - beachfront - absolutely worth paying extra for this, beach is lovely and kept clean. Water clean, warm and can walk in approx 100ft into the sea and still touch sea floor. Perfect environment for families with young children. All staff were impeccably polite , attentive and aimed to please, from hotel reception, bar staff, housekeeping, restaurant staff Food in restaurant was excellent- superb range of foods on buffet, delicious desserts, always topping up fresh watermelon, honey due melon, pineapple, oranges, apples, peaches, bananas in abundance Food was very tasty , great selection of breads, cheeses. Entertainment was available on some of the nights , violin player, singer, saxophone player all were great Lovely range of shops within walking distance , and bus and taxi straight into Chania old town. Had a very relaxing time and will go back again!

This trip was booked during October meaning it was almost end of season in Crete, the food was enjoyable and facilities where decent, however the main reason I am writing this review was about the pools , both pools where absolutely freezing, as someone who enjoys using the pools to cool down and have a swim this wasn’t possible at this resort I would recommend perhaps installing heaters for the pools especially during the end of season months as this was a big downfall of this resort I’d almost go as far to say the water took ur breath away it was that cold which was unfortunate and unenjoyable despite this the stay was pleasant a few little things such as all inclusive drinks stopping at 11pm which is rather silly as you cannot label it as ‘all inclusive’ if it’s not for the entirety of your stay overall good hotel clean and comfy beds but probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Firstly it’s the end of season and was expecting staff to be knackered however the staff from bar to restaurant and the girls on reception have been amazing . Also mr George the manager has been incredible a credit to his company . Only issue is with jet2 false advertising regarding restaurants , bars etc which I will take up with them when I return . Also first time with jet2 but definitely will be staying with TUI . I find jet 2 a lower standard compared to TUI , British airways and virgin
