Aquila Rithymna Beach

We recently stayed at the Aquila Rithymna Hotel, and unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. Despite being advertised as a family-friendly hotel, it did not cater well to families with young children. The family pool area was particularly problematic. The lifeguard made up her own set of overly restrictive rules, requiring our child to wear armbands and a life jacket even while we were in the shallow end teaching them to swim. No inflatables or ball games were allowed. The larger pool did allow inflatables, but with no shallow end, it wasn’t suitable for our 3-year-old. To top it off, the lifeguard’s was constatly whistling and making her own rules, or just constantly on tge phone or wondering off. We witnessed a near-drowning incident when she was nowhere to be found. Additionally, we were disappointed to find charges added to our bill for mini-bar items we did not use. We had to clear out the fridge to store our own snacks and drinks since we were on a half-board basis, but were still unfairly charged at the start of the stay and and the end. This was raised with the reception and ckeared after lengthy discussion. The red flag on the beach was up for most of our stay, meaning we couldn’t enjoy the sea, and with the restrictive pool rules, we were left with very little to do. The drinks were also incredibly expensive, and the entertainment was sparse and in diffrent locations. Overall, this hotel did not live up to its family-friendly reputation, and we left feeling frustrated and disappointed. For the high cost, we expected much more. Unfortunately, we would not recommend this hotel for families with young children.

Amazing hotel with extraordinary employees, great people always willing to help, providing top servis on the highest level. Resort and rooms are clean. Small disappointment for me personally was the tiny bath/shower, however still manageable. Tasty food and snacks. Its clearly visible that this hotel earned all those 5 stars. Beautiful views both sea or gardens. Places for kids and mini market with everything you need. Great choice!

Hotel is spotless , staff are genuinely interested in how your time is , food very good , location is perfect for exploring the old town and the new .,beach lovers idea location tbh ………………only downer is the lack of sun beds around both very nice pools

My son and I had a great stay at the hotel We really enjoyed the fish night at the Taverna! The food was great! The waiters always smiling and didn’t forget the Raki at the end of the diner! Special mention to George ‘s bar, where we enjoyed the cocktail! He is very friendly and makes you feel at home ! I appreciated the guest relation staff, whom always find a solution for our satisfaction! It was a pleasure !

This hotel has a good location. However I would class this hotel as a 4 star not a 5 star, hotel is very dated especially the rooms which do not have the necessities such as tooth brush charger iron or have enough sockets, rooms are dingy. Service is average, they really need to work on they're on customer service, some staff were quite rude. When we arrived we had to unload our own luggage from the taxi, and take them to the lobby and label them. carpets in the hallway are worn out wallpaper pealing of in some places. they really need to place more sunbeds around the pool area literally have to fight for a space can be quite stressful. They do not have enough staff for the hotel.

I put i went this august even though it was last august (it wouldn’t let me go past last september). Absolutely loved this hotel. Dining room was huge. Hotel area was so big there are parts i never knew were there, many pools, super friendly staff, lovely food options. You must try the mock tails they are absolutely stunning. Wish i could go again and it’s around a thirty second walk to the beach since the hotel is right next to it. Reception area is very fancy.

Value for Money - 3/10 drinks and food here cost a fortune and all the staff are on you constantly to keep spending. Its quite off putting. Water 6.50 Euros Cocktails £11-£12 we have spent £700 over budget and are light drinkers. 4 star property I.M.O with staff mainly focused on selling rather than exempliory customer service. Will not return on this basis. I will say in fairness, the hotel does have a good location close to the beach and watersports. However, you literally cannot sit anywhere in this hotel to relax for free? I assure you that you will be put under pressure to spend. I've also been kind in not mentioning certain other fundamental things that were not up to scratch on arrival.
