Positives: The hotel is quite nicely situated, outside Rethymno, but with a bus station just in front. It is having direct access to the beach. Its layout is nice, with its small buildings with alleys in between. And it has 2 swimming pools, a poolbar and a nice terrace in front where you can relax after a day at a beach. The staff is very friendly and the prices they practice are decent, but can be better since what you get there is not 4-star level.. Negatives: in my opinion, Jo An Beach is not a 4-star hotel and I do not understand how they keep their 4-star rating. I say this from the perspective of how the rooms look like and the restaurant (including food). It needs an upgrade in both areas, rooms being furnished like 20 years ago and the food quality and diversity is closer to 2-star hotels than 4.

Such a disappointment.. worst holiday EVER… how did they get 4 stars?????? This is 2-3 at max 🙈 We were 4 adults (2 elderly) and 2 kids. The hotel has officially confirmed that they are accessible and that was farther from the truth. The ramps are dangerously steep even for people without mobility issues (16-18 degrees instead of 6-10 permitted). The room welcomed with two great steps. “Accessible” shower had a step as well, no holding bars, no seat… if you are unfortunate to travel with people with mobility issues, this is definitely a no-go.. But even for healthy people, the hotel is not worth the money. Terribly old, the pools are just puddles, the food is terrible. They clean the rooms with chlorinated water - it stinks the whole day after that. The staff is unfriendly. The sea itself is nice, but the umbrellas are too few and not for free. The umbrellas at the pool are way too few. One cannot even sit anywhere to look after the kids. Waiting lines for breakfast and dinner are guaranteed. NEVER AGAIN!! It is the worst holiday we’ve ever had and the place has little to do with friendly welcoming Greece as we know it. Keep out, don’t fall into the trap.

Meine Tochter mit unserer Enkelin, aus Toronto, Kanada angereist hat mir geholfen, den Text auch in Englisch zusammenzufassen: # We booked a family vacation for 12 days at this hotel Jo An Beach because it was rated as a 4 star hotel. Boy, were we wrong! This place is completely misrepresented and is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel, maybe a 1 or 2 star one at best. The rooms were tiny, the room furniture and beds were spartan. There ware no elevators to 1st an 2nd floor. There was only 1 key attached to a magnet for the Air Conditioning - we were 2 people per Room! There were large puddles of water around the fridge and AC on the balcony. The balcony is so tiny that you can barely fit a chair. The bathrooms have no electric outlets, there is no liquid body soap (contrary to advertised ), except the sink no other shelves or whatsoever to put toothbrush, shampoo etc. The dining area is a complete joke – long line ups, cramped conditions, stale food and drinks. I needed sparkling water to take my medicine and it was refused to serve… Just disgusting. The beach area is a tiny blob with absolutely no space, you’d be lucky to get a spot, if at all. The swimming pools are very small. Staff was nevertheless friendly, but if you are hoping for a relaxing and joyful experience, this is definitely NOT the hotel to come to. We fled after the first night and went to a neighbour hotel, which met our standards. # Do not book here, unless you are OK with a basic motel vibe.

Where to start with this hotel? Meant to be 4*, must be joking 😄 It's 2*at best. I would rather have stayed in a hostel than this place. Think faulty towers and you're halfway there. We got conned out of staying at the Minos mare and stuck here instead. Must be my worst hotel stay yet. Better hotels for less money. Tiny dated rooms even smaller bathrooms. Cleaners were very hit or miss, sometimes just doing the minimum required, I don't think our floor was swept all week. All inclusive food was just about bearable and drinks were very limited in variety, the dining room was tiny and most meal times you had to queue outside on the steps waiting for people to finish which when you are eating, makes you feel rushed Dimitrus was the saving grace, always has a smile and a fist bump for you with a fast service at the pool bar. Very few sunbeds near pool so you have to use the ones on the beach which they then charge for even if you are all inclusive. Their private beach was unkempt with a dangerously high Stepdown onto slats the moved when you applied your weight. I noted a broken bodyboard and litter which was there on the beach for 5 of our seven days which showed that their staff didn't give 2 hoots about keeping the beach area clean. Main bar was extremely slow on taking drinks orders and service( waitress seemed more interested in chatting to the barman) all in all a dated grotty looking hotel. Stay here as a last resort only. WE DEFINITELY WONT BE RETURNING.

Perfect restaurant, reception and bar staff, horrible housekeeping service. Only bad thing in the bar was that have to wait too much to receive your drinks. Very poor bar drinks included in the all inclusive. That is not 4 star hotel, no more than 3.
