I would leave it less but can't. I was here for a state education conference. I had reserved Saturday through Wednesday. When I checked in I noticed that the room door did not shut without a strong push going in and a pull going out. I decided it was the humidity - and that I could put that effort in. Saturday night I found a bug after bringing in food from a property restaurant. Grossed out - but decided it was from the restaurant and not the room. MISTAKE I woke up Tuesday morning to multiple bugs in my room (see picture). I decided to leave the concert a day early. As I go to the front desk, I brought the bug as proof for the early checkout. No Sorry's - No we will get on that - instead they asked shall we put the balance on this card XXXX. Which was the wrong card! They did ask - well did you ask for someone to come and clean the room? In reviewing the bill after the card was charged - because that is when the staff gave me something to review - I noticed they charged me for the last night! I asked why did you charged me for the last night? The response was because you had a group rate (for the conference) and they charge for the hole reservation even if you leave early. I asked to speak to a manager - no one was available and maybe someone will call me back. Seriously! The bugs should have been enough, The door should have been a We are Sorry, The charging for the additional night is ridiculous.

As someone who grew up in Northern Michigan, it’s incredibly disappointing to see how far Grand Traverse Resort has fallen in terms of quality and service. At $500 per night, the bare minimum should include clean accommodations, basic functionality, and courteous staff. Unfortunately, none of that was delivered during my recent stay. The room had a coffee maker that only produced cold coffee, a wet floor beneath the desk (which raises serious hygiene concerns), and an air conditioning unit that was so loud it made it difficult to sleep. These are not minor issues—they reflect a disregard for guest comfort and safety. Staff interactions were consistently unhelpful, and when I brought these concerns to management, including Manager Rebecca Olson, I was denied both a full and partial refund. That level of indifference from leadership is unacceptable at any price point, let alone one that rivals luxury resorts. To add insult to injury, on-site pricing was absurd—$20 for a peanut butter cookie and a medium coffee. Families visiting the area deserve far better than being nickel-and-dimed at every turn. I also booked through *******, which proved equally disappointing. Their customer service offered no support and had no authority to intervene, making it clear that booking through third-party platforms no longer provides any meaningful consumer protection. In short: this was an expensive, unpleasant experience that I would not recommend to anyone. Visitors to Northern Michigan should look elsewhere for value, comfort, and integrity.

This extremely expensive resort leaves much to be desired. The physical condition of the facilities is poor, hot tub didn't work, pealing paint, cracked and loose pavers, one ply toilet paper, poor water pressure… need I go on? Suffice it to say we will avoid this place in the future. Save your money.

Beautiful scenery and great space for any occasion! Always a peaceful, relaxing and fun place to stay. With wonderful restaurants and waterfront and beautiful golfing grounds, it’s a perfect getaway for families, business or just a little getaway!

Room was ok, sink was clogged, however they did fix it. Went to watch a movie and was 21.99 so went to hook up hdmi from computer because we pay for Netflix and Disney channels, but no they do not allow that, you have to pay to watch what you already pay for on their tv.. money grab unfortunately. All people that do this, maybe a couple or few grand a year, it is sad. Lost me and my family after we just spent 300+ dollar at their restaurant Arie…

This resort was such a disappointment. It is in need of a refresher. Our first room was contaminated with mold.. I had an allergic reaction. At first I didn’t think much about it.. the room had a beautiful view of the golf course and lake. Then my allergies kicked in. there was mold in the bathroom on the top of the tile, the dresser in the bedroom had the drawers screwed shut and the handles removed.. my guess is they had a flood in that room and covered it up. They moved us to a second room and it was better but there was stuff left in the drawers.. the lampshade was broken and there was dust on the air vent. We went to the hot tub. nice feature but young kids were jumping in without supervision.. the tiles were in bad condition with at least one missing. One elevator was out. Someone needs to do a better job maintaining this facility. We are one and done!
