Erata Hotel

Popped into the restaurant for a meal before catching late night flight. Plenty of available parking. Menu was extensive and food delicious. Restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Generously provided me with internet password whilst food was cooked

We needed an overnight in Accra after arriving on the BA day flight from London. This hotel is fine and we had an OK meal. Rooms are large. WE had an issue with the hot water but the friendly staff eventually sorted it out.

Went as part of a tour group with Dr. Kofi Lomotey. Do not recommend hotel or tour (excursion). Low quality rooms and food. Put in upper level room. Very basic. No view of the area. Very basic bathrooms. Limited water and flushing toilets. Took cold showers. Not fun. Hard towels. If you want to use the mini fridge, you can’t plug in the lamp. TV was limited to preaching. Felt like a religious cell. No elevator, uneven surfaces, many stairs without handrails and height and width of steps were not uniform combined with slippery tiles made the hotel dangerous for travelers with disabilities or walking challenges. Hard towels. Limited water or working toilets. Where and how does the food staff wash their hands when preparing food? Food was the same each day. Low quality white bread, processed egg dish, leftovers from last night’s dinner, corn flakes, oatmeal, Tang to drink. In a country that grows food, we were served overly processed food. Dinner- rice, rice, rice, beans, plantains, cabbage, fried fish and overcooked chicken. I really missed fresh vegetables, green vegetables and fresh fruit. Sometimes the overcooked chicken was in a salty sauce. Very spicy and highly salted food. Take your blood pressure medicine. Meeting rooms were not clean. We used two different meeting rooms both had old dishes and items in the corners. I guess they were left from previous meetings. No coverings on tables or water available in meeting rooms. Did I mention one was on an upper level with no elevator? Did not use the pool. It did not look clean or well maintained. Sadly, this was the better of the three hotels we were taken to stay in. Very low quality in an old hotel. Knock it down and rebuild. Don’t go!

The reception staff is very rude, especially one dark chubby lady who was in my opinion trying to scam me. She charged me $10 for an extra key even after i explained to her that i had left it in my collegues room and the cleaning lady will find it under the table as we were rushing for a meeting and couldnt go back in to look for it at that poin in time. At checkout she then tried to force me to pay in cash (euros) even though i told her i prefer to pay by card to keep track of my expenses plus i did not have local currency (GC). She then decided that if im going to pay by card then i will need to pay an extra 60GH ($6) for each of my bills and seeing as theyre holding my luggage i had no choice but to pay. My experience before this incident had been okay but this just made me think their scammers. Breakfast lacks variety and their food is not hat tasty. Other than that enjoyed my stay, Thier WIFI, AC and water pressure was excellent.

The hotel was not very clean--the bathrooms were quite dirty, as were the common spaces. The staff were not particularly friendly or helpful.
