First, the positives. This location was very near the shopping and restaurants we like on the west side of Fort Wayne. Also it would be very convenient for those with a patient at Lutheran Hospital. Very easy in and out, traffic wise. Even though it is close to an interstate, noise was not a problem. The front-desk staff were polite and helpful, and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were spacious, and each had a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator and microwave. Our room had vinyl plank flooring, which always beats carpet for cleanliness. Also, just off the lobby was a convenient laundry with several washers and dryers. That being said, the rooms were not clean. We had two pube hairs in our bathtub, the toilet seat shifted all over when you sat down, and there was lime build-up all around the faucets. There was an unfamiliar lingering odor in the room, and the toilet area smelled of urine though there was no evidence of it on the floor and the bowl itself was clean. The party we came with had to request another room because the one they were given reeked of cigarette smoke. The second room they were given had unidentifiable dried-on organic substances on the counter in the kitchenette, and on the back of the door and floor. They also found a dead flea on the mattress cover, but, thankfully, no evidence of bed bugs. This was the only available room and it was late, so they opted to stay and cleaned up whatever was on the surfaces with hot water and a towel. You need to know there is no ice machine. We were told it had been taken out during Covid and there were ice cube trays in the refrig. freezer. Two empty trays, it turned out. So if you want to fill a cooler or anything past 24 cubes, you will need to bring in a bag of ice. All of us lost money in the soda/water vending machine and never got any product. We advised the front desk who said they were aware the machine was junk and said they would make a note of it. Since they don't own the machine, no money was returned. It would not be difficult to bring this facility up to speed with a little effort and attention. 1.) CLEAN the rooms and leave them smelling fresh, don't just wipe over surfaces. 2.) Get an ice machine. 3.) If your soda machine vendor cannot supply a functioning, dependable machine, change vendors. It gives the message that you do not care about your guests. With a few basic changes, this hotel would enjoy much higher ratings and repeat business.
