Bar - excellent service. We were staying in an adjacent hotel and went for a drink in the Angel - the bar staff in particular one whose name we think was Ruma was really attentive and added to a very pleasant experience- can’t rate it highly enough - will definitely revisit

We booked The Angel in Abergavenny for a Valentine’s getaway and had a fantastic stay. Initially, we realised we’d been booked into the wrong restaurant, but Claire at reception was absolutely amazing in sorting it out for us. She went above and beyond, even upgrading our room, and was incredibly helpful and polite throughout—nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself was excellent. Our room was spacious, with all the amenities you’d expect, a huge, comfortable bed, and luxurious pillows that made for a great night’s sleep. The service was outstanding from start to finish, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommend.

Had a delicious meal at The Angel Hotel. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The fox hunter bar is cosy with an open fire and the oak room had a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. We thought it would be expensive but were very surprised at the value for money, given the quality of food, drink and warm welcome we received. The staff are excellent and are obviously trained to a very high standard. Extremely clean with attention to detail. The hotel and staff made our 20th wedding anniversary a memorable evening. We will definitely dine there more regularly.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at The Angel. Thanks to all the staff who were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful from making our booking and during the whole of our stay. In fact welcoming and comfort were a theme throughout, from bedroom, to restaurants and bar. The food was fantastic too.

Our second celebration afternoon tea at The Angel , this one for our Golden Wedding, and as before it was wonderful .The food , both savouries and sweet , was amazing .Lovely choice and delicious . Thankyou for the kind gesture for our anniversary. The attention from the staff is impeccable, so courteous and helpful .We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon in such a lovely setting and look forward to our next visit .Thankyou again

Fabulous hotel
A lovely hotel with old fashioned values. Lovely little extras like real coffee in the rooms. Breakfasts cooked to order. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We stayed overnight at the Angel hotel and really enjoyed the whole experience.We arrived mid afternoon and checked in straight away ,the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful.Our room was very comfortable and especially the bed the pillows were just right firm but supportive, the bathroom was very clean and well maintained and the towels were fluffy and soft,there was also a selection of toiletries There were nice touches provided like a selection of teas coffees and local biscuits and fresh milk if required.Because we arrived in the afternoon we were able to take a walk around Abergavenny getting to know the local shops which were individual and wide ranging I also managed to buy some gifts for Christmas .As we were too early for dinner we tried the Angel bar which was bustling with locals having a Christmas drink,we tried the mince pies with a pot of cream and a cafetière of coffee each ,very tasty .The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt special .We really enjoyed the dinner and the menu offers something to suit everyone,the staff at the Angel really cant do any more to make your stay more enjoyable and we shall definitely return !

From the moment we arrived on Sunday afternoon everything was just as we wanted- fabulous room( Mews room33) friendly staff and so efficient The breakfast timing 7.30-12 is exceptional as is the quality of the food at breakfast and dinner Nothing was too much trouble even for a dairy intolerant guest!
