Lokuthula Lodge

Lokuthula Lodges are amazing!! We stayed for four nights as part of our trip to Zimbabwe and had the most fabulous time. The rooms were clean and comfortable and it was wonderful to see the wildlife so close to the lodges. The beds were very comfy, we had the best sleep and it was lovely wakening up to the sound of the animals. The Lodges are an easy walk to the main Vic Falls Safari lodge where we had the most delicious breakfast with an amazing view, and a stay at Lokuthula wouldn't be complete without visiting the Boma Dinner and Drum Show with its delicious food, and fun and lively entertainment. Lokuthula Lodges exceeded our expectations and we only wish that we could have had more time there. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and helpful, they helped to make our stay at Lokuthula a most memorable one.
Ilala Lodge Hotel

The hotel is located a few hundred meters away from the business district, there is a small parking lot, and breakfast can be ordered in addition to regular food. The environment in the hotel is beautiful. As long as you are willing, you can make contact with animals without any distance. The hotel has rich functional areas and is clearly divided.

The hotel was clean, has a wonderful vulture show at 1pm where they feed the vultures, great view of a watering hole and staff is excellent. Housekeeping came into the room every evening pulled the mosquito netting around the bed and sprayed the room. We did have a few issues. We made reservations for dinner at the restaurant and when we arrived we were told they did not get have the reservation. My husband told the bar manager who said she would handle it and I was at the bar when she was handling the reservation. I suspect that they did not lose our reservation but could not honor it for other reasons. I certainly was not happy about that. They also did not have reservations for a another party that was also traveling with us. The a/c is adequate and the key is to turn on the a/c and the ceiling fan. I would suggest to have laundry done somewhere else as there was a ”grease spot” on a shirt that was returned from laundry. I was able to remove the spot with soap and water. Additionally we were there with a tour and another couples luggage on our tour ended up on the wrong bus even though it was properly labeled. Very nice hotel but has some caveats.

It's not often that you leave a hotel feeling completely satisfied. However after 2 nights staying at The Pioneer Lodge we are sad to be leaving. The a la carte food and drinks were excellent and reasonably priced, especially for hotel standards. The staff were all incredibly friendly and professional. The room was spacious and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and kept immaculate. We made use of the free shuttle back from the Look Out Cafe. And a taxi back from dinner in town was $7. We would definitely stay again next time we're in Vic Falls.

The lodge is nice and has potential but we were disappointed by many things. We booked this trip before covid in 2020 and payed the full price. We had to postpone the trip (but the price stayed the same) and when we came in 2022 the service had changed a lot: - No more hourly shuttle to Vic Falls city (and the lodge is 15mins away by car from the city. We had to pay taxis which are 10$ one way). We had booked this lodge because it was in the nature but allowed us to be in Vic Falls whenever we wanted thanks to the shuttle. It was not the case. - No more laundry service, free mini bar, high tea, cocktails, guided tour of the property, massages... After asking for it to the management, some of the services were provided after 1 day but we did not feel it was normal to pay for something we did not get. As it was our honeymoon, we asked for a room with a view on the waterhole but we were the furthest room from it. Also Vic falls safari lodge has a much nicer view on the waterhole. Globally the service is very slow (especially during meals) but they are nice.
The Victoria Falls Hotel

It is indeed a century-old luxury hotel built by British colonists. It shows aristocratic temperament everywhere, low-key atmosphere, thoughtful and meticulous service. The black brother guides you to a special living room for check-in, and sends you wet wipes and lemonade. The back garden of the hotel is facing the waterfall bridge. The most wonderful thing is to enjoy the mist rising from the waterfall while drinking English afternoon tea.
