funeral reception booked for today 29th may, @ 2.15pm. the family come from australia for the funeral and i done the booking.i got to the pub at 2pm to find empty tables. 1 barmaid starting to put cups and saucers out, followed by an urn for the boiling water for the 20 coffee,s and 20 t,s that had been paid for.people started to turn up,its now 2.30pm and still empty tables, the 1 barmaid knew nothing of the reception and was very apologetic, i asked ref managers ,under managers and was told only 1 manager onsite but she was upstairs.no boiling water for the hot drinks ,no milk, no spoons, no serviettes, the machine was not switched on so nobody had tea or coffee.by now ive asked 3 people where is the food , and told it would be 5 to 10 minutes.about 14.45pm the food started to arrive some out in the passage way,not good.now this has been my local for 24 years and i feel totally embarresed that this was the best they could do with visitors from the other side of the world, poor poor service, the 2 girls were run ragged, but this is down to management, so lay your heads down in shame for a disgraceful exhibition, so the way i see it a refund for the hot drinks that could not be had is due as a minimum starting point.disgraceful and embarrassing.

Very clean room, plenty of refreshments, lovely soft pillows and comfortable bed with fab duvet. The evening meal cooked by Chef Sharon (Shazz) made the night. It was cooked to perfection especially sharing platter for 2, calamari, steak done on request and chicken. Can't recommend Chef enough. And breakfast following morning equally tasty and satisfying. We come every year and it gets better and better. Also compliments to staff who are very accommodating and helpful.

Stayed one night because of the marathon the next day. The staffs were friendly and procedures like Checkin are convenient. Great location, close to the station and hotel. However, the inability of the air conditioner to heat up made the room less comfortable. But I stillI had a good rest here and set a PB in the race the next day, so it was a good stay overall.

The service was very good, got checked in early with no issues. The rooms are standard but warm and very clean and comfortable beds. The breakfast was good a good selection. Never got bar food so can't comment but the staff were all very helpful and polite. Would stay here again.

I had booked a double room with shared facilities for one night's stay. First impression wasn't good. The front door was damaged, and seemed to be left ajar for guests to go in and out. I was asked to leave a £50 deposit for breakages? There were 2 cups on the windowsill with milk and coffee, but no kettle. There was no remote for the TV. When I washed my hands in the shared bathroom, the top of the tap came off in my hand. I had only been there 5 minutes. I went to find some assistance, and when the manager came to look at the tap he said ”oh, it's broken” he also had trouble getting the light to come on. I asked for another room. The 2nd room I was offered had a kettle, but no cups. The door to the room was really hard to open, and there was a hole around the door handle. The top drawer of the wardrobe was also broken, and there were bits of furniture outside the door on the landing. There were holes all over the wall of the shared bathroom. I asked where the remote was for the TV. I was told that the people who were 'living there' had lost the remote? It seemed that the hotel is used for long term stays, and they do not seem to have been respectful of the facilities. The breakfast consisted of a jug of cornflakes, a jug of orange juice and some bread and butter. I know it was only a 2 star hotel, but the whole experience was quite upsetting. It was awful, and I don't understand how this hotel has passed inspection? I was charged £53 for this stay for one night, and it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in
