Piwaka Lodge and Backpackers

We been there on 30th-31st Dec 2021. The family room was horrible. Not up to our expectations which we find from the image provided on the website. I realize how different it is from image and reality. I was shocked but just for one night so I manage it by spending most of the time outside with my family. Positive note The owner of the property is very nice. She has a homely welcome attitude. She allowed us to keep our luggage for a reasonable time after checkout. Help us in making breakfast as well. The location is good. You can have 2 supermarkets within 200 meters and also one Indian restaurant.
Tasman Holiday Parks – Picton

We had a Studio apartment with ensuite and own cooking facilities. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. There was no microwave in the room which was very small with a table and 2 chairs outside on the balcony. We were close to the office and disturbed by guests arriving past 10pm and talking loudly. I was able to use the microwave in the shared kitchen. We did not think it was good value for the money when compared to other places we stayed at. However we were well located to catch the early morning ferry across to Wellington which was a priority. Next time I wd stay a little further out and catch a later ferry. We got much better value accommodation in Wellington.
High Street Living Motel

The couple managing the motel were so lovely and kind. The motel was a great base for our week long family holiday around Marlborough, we were in the 2 bedroom unit which was set up well for our family with its own private fenced courtyard being a huge plus. A portacot and highchair was supplied for our youngest. Warm heaters in each room (which were used on a couple wet and cold days) the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals (there was also a BBQ in the courtyard we could have used). The children were also given some Easter treats on arrival. Parking is a little bit tight when busy but easy enough to reverse out as there's a large area on the side of the road to turn around. We loved our stay and will likely be back again 🙂

Top of the Town

We were passing through Picton. We stayed at Top of the Town a couple of years ago and were made to feel so welcome by Tracee and Bryan that we wanted to stay with them again. It was great, they welcomed us like old friends and it was lovely to be back. When I stay somewhere I just want it to be clean. It’s VERY clean, it’s modern, immaculate, our room was spacious, there’s water bottles in your fridge, microwave, bathrobes etc… We had been traveling the South Island and stayed in other places where I had to clean the room before unpacking my stuff. So what a relief to stay with them and be in boutique quality. Top marks again to Top of the Town!
Tombstone Motel, Lodge & Backpackers

I booked for 1 night and ended up staying 3 night. Top notch accommodation in one of their queen ensuite rooms - comfy bed with beautiful linen, an ever changing view of the harbour from my deck and everything was spotlessly clean. Hosts Barry and Nikki were very knowledgeable about Picton, transport and events; and very friendly too. Clean shared kitchen with huge fridges to store food. Free delicious home-made scones with butter and jam to boot. I liked the cats and a small dog that hung around - it all made Tombstone a very homely stay.
