GGuest UserHestasport cottages are not just a place to stay, it's a whole world of experience. It's a truly magical environment of a few good size traditional wooden cabins nestled on top of a hill above the village with a hot tube in the middle. We rented the biggest one and I highly recommend it for a family especially of you stay for a few days like we did. The cabin was very clean, nicely decorated, high ceilings and full of natural light. We cooked at home every evening and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. Finding the place was very easy. Like they told us, as long as you understand that the reception is not where the cottages are, not a problem at all. Communication with the management was very smooth. We too initially had booked for 2020 but had to cancel due to to covid and they graciously refunded us. Finally we managed to stay and we loved every minute of it. In the area I highly recommend to visit the 1238 The battle of Iceland museum and virtual experience, have a cold one in Retro Mathus in Hofsos, visit the stunning waterfalls of Reykjafoss, Glaumbaer traditional houses etc. We didn't do horse riding but saw a lot of riders and looked like fun. There is also white river rafting nearby. The area is so beautiful, plenty to do and staying in this stunning place is a truly authentic experience.
JJefmaukelThis was the nicest guesthouse my friend and I stayed at as we toured Iceland on bikes. It is a great location if you want to stay near Glumbaer. The building is brand new and modern with two very large and modern bathrooms and a good sized kitchen with all the appliances we needed (including a couple of coffee options). Instead of serving a breakfast, the owners stocked the fridge and pantry so we had an assortment of breads, spreads, meats, cheeses, skyr, fruit, some vegetables and juices as well as eggs. There was a grill on the patio as well, but we didn't use it while we were there. The guesthouse is surrounded by pastures, so you almost always see a horse when you look out a window. The hottub is fed by a thermal spring and was a great way to relax. I had hoped the owners would push horse-riding on us, but they were off-site.
PpynnngIt's a small house with beautiful snow all around.
The facilities in the room are very complete, but the smell of cooking oil will be a bit big.
The wind will be very noisy at night, slightly insufficient.
Ffeir0826The Guesthouse is small and of an older style however I thought it had character and whilst not new and ultra-modern it was spotlessly clean. Kitchen is small however functional, be aware there is microwave and toaster however no hob/oven. I was good with that. There was a minor tripswitch issue which lost power to a few sockets. There were others available, and when reported it was sorted quickly. I thought it was great value, well and efficiently run
