The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is an annual parade held in New York City by the American department store chain Macy's. The parade was first held in 1924,[2] making it the second oldest Thanksgiving parade in the United States, tied with the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade (both of which are four years younger than the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade). The three-hour parade takes place in Manhattan, ending outside Macy's Herald Square, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST on Thanksgiving Day, and has been broadcast nationally on NBC since 1953.
