Louis Stern Fine Arts is thrilled to announce the upcoming exhibition, "Matsumi Kanemitsu: Traction Avenue," featuring a collection of late works by the esteemed Japanese American artist and educator, Matsumi Kanemitsu (1922-1992). Taking place from May 18 to June 29, 2024, this special showcase will unveil the artist's profound creations from his final years at the historic Joannes Brothers Company Building on 800 Traction Avenue in Los Angeles's vibrant Arts District.

These remarkable pieces, rendered in sumi ink, watercolor, and acrylic, vividly capture the intricate interplay between humanity and nature's forces. From the blazing sunsets of a desert to the tumultuous waves of a Pacific storm, Kanemitsu's artworks beautifully depict the awe-inspiring yet perilous essence of our natural world. Representing the culmination of his diverse career, this exhibition stands as a testament to Kanemitsu's enduring legacy of nurturing a dynamic artist community in LA.
