The National Museum of Korea will hold a special exhibition titled  (tentative title) in June 2025.
This exhibition covers the 200 years of art and culture from the establishment of the new nation of Joseon in 1392 to the outbreak of the Imjin War in 1592. During this period, the new dynasty led society and culture in a new space called ‘Hanyang’ with a new ruling power called the ‘Sadaebu’.
Internally, as the Confucian ideology system was combined with the shadow of the previous era, Goryeo, the literary arts centered around the royal family and the sadaebu blossomed, and the handicraft system developed in earnest with the maturation of technology and the reorganization of the national system. Externally, various arts developed through international exchanges while being influenced by the East Asian relationship between the Ming Dynasty of China and the Muromachi shogunate of Japan.
This exhibition covers various visual materials such as paintings and ceramics, Buddhist paintings and sculptures, books, and printing types from the 15th and 16th centuries. Through this, we will be able to examine the diversity, high aesthetic and technical achievements, and rich tastes of Joseon’s early art, which emerged as a new nation during this period.
The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of liberation, the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, and the 20th anniversary of the relocation of the National Museum of Korea to Yongsan. To mark this memorable year, we will look back on the peak of East Asian culture achieved by the new nation Joseon and draw the ideals of the era we will advance into.

Great place to get acquainted with the Korean culture and history. The place itself is very comfortable and beautiful. That&rsquo;s a great pleasure just to walk around the territory. But the real magic starts inside. There are both historical and cultural expositions, some of them have also interactive digital experiences which are really interesting to try on. They also have all the explanations translated to English. Be ready to spend more than 2 hours here. I&rsquo;ve spent 3 hours here during my first day in Korea and was forced to leave only because it was the end of the day. There are lots of resting areas around the building so you&rsquo;ll never be too tired to explore one more room. Tips: * Book the AR experience on the Museum website in advance. It&rsquo;s totally worth it! * Check for the announcements of the special events and exhibitions. The can expand your museum experience. Mostly they&rsquo;re free.

you can climb up on foot in about 1.5 - 2 hours, from the side of Myeongdong there is a nice village, which is worth a walk. If you have a hard time climbing, it is better to use the funicular. Also, there are almost no kiosks selling water along the way

Walking in the streets of Seoul, Gyeongbokgung Palace is like a shining pearl, quietly telling an ancient story. Stepping into the palace gate, it seems to travel through time and space, and the quaint buildings shine solemnly in the sun.

Walking along the Junghwajeon, every brick and tile carries the weight of history. The cultural relics displayed in the palace silently tell the glory and vicissitudes of the Joseon Dynasty. I stood in front of the palace, looking up at the tall building, and a feeling of awe surged in my heart.

Walking in the garden in the palace, the trees are green and the flowers are blooming. The koi in the pond are leisurely and contented, as if they are also enjoying this quiet time. I strolled along the corridor, admiring the surrounding scenery and feeling the perfect fusion of history and nature.

Gyeongbokgung Palace is not only a palace, but also a witness to a period of history. Here, I seem to see the rise and fall of the Joseon Dynasty, and feel the unique charm of Korean culture. This is an unforgettable trip, which gave me a deeper understanding of Korean history and culture.
