Glasgow Networking for Female Entrepreneurs (Sept '25) | The Haberdashery

Not another cringey networking event! We've all been to them... the awkward, uncomfortable, salesy events where you listen to one scripted elevator pitch after another. The MLM/pyramid scheme folks trying to convince you they can help you make 'six figures in just six months!' The corporate board table powerpoint session, complete with a room full of suits, instant coffee and stale croissants. This is not one of those events. Small Biz, Big Chat is about building a community of female entrepreneurs. It's about real, honest business chat, skill sharing, and non cringey networking (no sleazy sales pitches required). We're a friendly group of women wanting to help other female-owned businesses. It's about proper coffee and delicious cake in a relaxed environment. This is not just another networking event... it's a new community we want YOU to be a part of. Do you feel lonely running your business by yourself? Do you want to meet like-minded business owners? Do you have questions you want to ask other small biz owners? Do you sometimes just want to have a moan about that overdue invoice? This is the place for you. The details: Tickets are £24 / £20 for an early bird You'll get a decent cup of coffee (or tea) & delicious sweet treats Two hours of networking & honest chat with likeminded female founders A presentation / upskilling session with a featured guest speaker (details coming soon!) We run these sessions regularly so you can become part of a supportive community The option to stay for lunch and do a bit of co-working About Small Biz, Big Chat: Meet Rhiannon, Emmelie and Sarah. We're three small business owners. Rhiannon helps women build and grow stand out businesses with brand and content strategy, brand photography and business mentorship. Emmelie is an illustrator who works with female entrepreneurs to create magical, bold and fun branding for their businesses. Sarah is a florist and writer who creates wedding florals and runs floristry workshops. Two of us are mothers so we understand the stresses of juggling childcare, running our businesses and coping with mum guilt. We're all at different stages in our businesses and want nothing more than to grow a community of likeminded female business owners. Follow us on Instagram to keep up to date. Location: The Haberdashery, 545 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G3 7PQ We chose this venue because it's a small, female-ran, business - everything that SBBC champions! Train: It's a 7 minute walk from Charing Cross train station and a 12 minute walk from Anderston train station. Subway : The nearest subway station is St George's Cross. Bus: There’s a bus stop on Granville Street, just round the corner from the venue. Car: It’s very easy to access from the M8. Paid parking is available on the surrounding streets. The Jury On Trial, What's The Verdict? Keep, Abolish or Reform with Forensics and Law Psychology Expert , Dr. Lee Curley. Juries play a central role in our justice system, yet research shows that jurors are influenced by a range of cognitive biases and extra-legal factors. This raises an important question: are juries still the best option in a 21st century courtroom? In this talk, Dr Lee Curley will explore how jurors make decisions by examining both the weaknesses and strengths of the jury system. On one hand, issues such as cognitive biases and the persistence of myths can undermine fairness. On the other hand, having fifteen randomly selected citizens, each bringing different beliefs and experiences, can be a real strength. In addition, during the talk, potential alternatives (i.e., judge only trials) to the jury system and methods of reform will be assessed. The aim of this talk is not to provide final answers, but to spark debate and engage the audience in the fascinating intersection of psychology and law. And Fletch doesn’t shy away from his Neighbours connection with some fun chat and music speaking to his other life as a soap Doctor. The support artist on the tour is brilliant Aussie singer/songwriter Riley Catherall. Riley supported Fletch on his sellout 2024 tour and was so admired by audiences he was the obvious choice to invite for an encore performance. A night with Fletch and his band is a guaranteed fun night out! IS ALAN FLETCHER A BETTER MUSICIAN THAN DR KARL! Here's what they say. Overall Alan Fletcher delivered a show that surprised in the best possible way. He had a fantastic vocal quality throughout as well as some solid guitar playing, but what elevated the evening for me was the balance he struck between thoughtfulness and fun and the strength of his connection with the crowd. It’s safe to say he’s going to appeal to music fans way beyond just those who know him from ‘Neighbours’ Entertainment-focus.com – Laura Cooney Had the pleasure of meeting Fletch in Worthing this week. A joyful evening of songs old and new. Highly recommended - Andy Dobson What a great night at The Steam and Whistle!! Thank you so much! You were all amazing and so lovely to see you again!! - Emiliana, Hannah and Jason Saw you in Southampton last night and you definitely have a better voice and more talent than Dr Karl !! Cultural Experiences
In this beginner's paleoart workshop, we'll be looking to draw a Smilodon, perhaps the most famous of the extinct sabre-toothed cats. The workshop will take you through the practical drawing techniques necessary to draw animals realistically, friendly to total beginners and more intermediate artists alike. We'll also be delving into the science behind how artists approach reconstructions using fossil materials, modern analogues (in this case, animals like lions or tigers), inferences from the extinct animal's behaviour, and lots of imagination! This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in the crossover of science and art, palaeontology and biology enthusiasts, or just anyone who's interested in learning to draw animals realistically. Class size will be kept small to allow for plenty of one-to-one tuition. All materials for drawing with graphite and colour pencil are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own drawing materials if preferred. The workshop is 15+ but children over 10 can attend with an adult. Any questions, feel free to contact me at shirinillustration@gmail.com Information Source: Shirin Sheppard | eventbrite

We are at a vital crossroads in the future of our land and seas. Why Not Scotland? explores the Scottish landscape through the eyes of Flo, a young Scot from Glasgow. Seeing the depleted state of nature across her own country, Flo feels dispirited and increasingly fearful about an uncertain future, like many of her generation. However, on a journey around Europe, Flo encounters a different story, finding places where nature is making a dramatic comeback, revitalising human communities. Encouraged by these stories of hope and renewal, she is prompted to wonder: if this is possible elsewhere, then why not Scotland? While this is being hosted at the Eco-Hub, you do not need to be a student at the University of Glasgow to attend. Find out more: https://www.scotlandbigpicture.com/why-not-scotland In order to make positive change, we must work together. This film screening is being brought to you in collaboration with: GUEST (https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/sustainability/guest/) Glasgow University Environmental Sustainability Team (GUEST) is a team of highly motivated student interns employed by the university to improve sustainability on campus.
