Folktales in the Forest: An evening of folktales around the campfire, featuring sylvan stories from the forest and woodlands of Britain and Ireland. Expect amorous encounters, evil elves, the slightly suspect names of orchard guardians and a heroine who knows what she wants and how to get it. Delivered by Graeme Cooke, host of the Tales of Britain and Ireland podcast in the beautiful surroundings of the Rika Ace CIC woodlands in Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire. All tales told with humour, wandering asides and above all else a great love for the stories. Details: Turn up from 19:00 for a 19:30 start. 16+ (adult content). Stories c. 2 hours including a break. BYOB for alcohol. Hot drinks and soft drinks cans available for purchase. Benches will be provided but feel free to bring your own chair for extra comfort! Overnight camping pitches available: £5pp, set up from 4pm onwards. (Book on Rika ACE CIC website) Parking spaces are limited so please travel together where possible. Note that this is a working woodland with some cover available so please come dressed appropriately with layers, a waterproof jacket in case and sturdy boots/shoes. Ground can be uneven in places and become slippery after rain. The storytelling space is accessible for most with mobility issues however if in doubt please contact Rika Ace CIC to discuss.(https://www.rikaace.co.uk/) Reviews of Tales of Britain and Ireland podcast: Modern storytelling at its best, with cinematic scene-setting and moments of genuine tension Storytelling for today. Quirky, clever, and so entertaining. If I had a castle, I would happily pay to keep this teller of tales at my hearth for the winter. “Graeme has managed to make old British folk tales accessible without losing the original meaning.” Information Source: Graeme Cooke - Tales of Britain and Ireland | eventbrite

Drumming Circle Come and join us for special night of shamanic drumming at Rika ACE CIC (Rika Bushcraft) ! Our Drumming Circle is a sacred and community building event where you can connect with yourself & each other through the power of the shamanic drum. The drum circle is a time-honoured way of being together, to honour the ancestors and for healing. Being out on the land, amongst the trees under a canopy of stars with a fire pit to warm our bones will be an unforgettable experience. We play the drum, use rattles and use our voices intuitively, there are no set rythms to follow. You will be invited to join in with some simple rituals, like using sacred smoke to cleanse your drum, give an offering to the fire or speaking words of gratitude. We have the use of the roundhouse and firepit or the outdoor woodland areas depending on the weather! Please note as we are borrowing the land from the wildlife it is essential you do not drop any litter, smoking is not permitted on the site and any concerns about disrespectful behaviour can be raised in confidence with Claire. Please read the FAQs below which should answer anymore questions you might have or contact Claire the event organiser. Information Source: Claire Laizans @fullcircleceremonies_ | eventbrite

In this talk he will explore the role of Henry Sampson, an alleged government spy and agent provocateur, who betrayed Jeremiah Brandreth, the leader of the revolt. Richard Pincott has been the survey director of The Field Detectives since 1999 and has overseen historic landscape investigations that have taken the team from before the Iron Age right through to World War II and beyond.
