These sessions will take place at the Tinahely Community Hall, located at School Road, Tinahely. The program is designed to introduce young participants to the exciting sport of pickleball. Played on an indoor badminton court with a net, pickleball offers a unique and fast-paced experience. All equipment, including batts and plastic balls, will be provided. During the six-week program, participants will develop their skills in pickleball, including the forehand, backhand, serve, and volley shots. They will also learn how to keep score and have the opportunity to practice playing matches. This engaging initiative will run from Saturday, May 11th to Sunday, May 19th, 2024, at the Tinahely National School. Experience a range of events across Ireland during this celebration of cycling's benefits. Space is limited, so reserve your spot only if you are committed to attending. No-shows and last-minute cancellations affect planning and deprive others of this valuable opportunity. The Learn to Cycle class focuses on teaching children aged 5-12 the essential skills for confident cycling. Led by experienced instructors, the program covers bike handling basics like balance, steering, and stopping. Parents or carers are required to stay and assist their child during the session. Participants must bring their bike and helmet, removing stabilisers prior to the class. Helmets are mandatory during the program, so practice at home beforehand is recommended. Start Point: GAA carpark at School Road (Meet at 9.45am, walk will start at 10am sharp) Grade: Moderate Distance: 12.1km Estimated time: 3hrs 30mins Total height climbed: 330m Highest point: 390m Terrain underfoot: Forest trail, mountain trails and country lanes. Suitable for: Reasonably fit walkers. Should be manageable by intermediate walkers who have experience of hill climb and decent. Notes: Parts of the route are on exposed mountain; full mountain equipment required. Walking boots, warm clothing and wet gear might be required, and poles/sticks recommended. Bringing a snack and drink is suggested. This walk climbs fairly steeply over Garryhoe Hill, crosses open ground and descends to Mangan's Lane.
