Opposites attract in this debut rom-com when a real estate developer's quest for a promotion has her returning to the coastal hometown she loathes—and running into her teenage crush turned town golden boy. After her mother’s substance abuse left her raising herself, Samantha Leigh left everyone in her Florida small town behind. She much prefers her new life as a real estate developer in New York City—with its nonstop noise, packed sidewalks, and her fellow workaholics. But when her work nemesis falls ill, she's forced to be his replacement on a new resort development project…in her hometown. Needing this assignment to get the promotion she desperately wants, Sam will just have to suck it up and get in and out as soon as possible. Only the plan to avoid all of the hot local spots falls apart. Back on the island, Sam is confronted with everything she ran away from: her inebriated mother, her ex-best friend, and her old high school bullies now married with children. It certainly doesn't help when the town golden boy (and her childhood crush), Austin Marcs, keeps coming to her rescue. As her ex-best friend’s brother and someone who loves his hometown, he’s only trouble waiting to happen and comes with too many strings attached. Despite Sam's best efforts, Austin soon has her going out and enjoying old stomping grounds, white beaches, and the Florida sunset, making it hard to hold on to the grudges of her past. But will she leave all she’s worked for behind for a chance at love . . . or potentially destroy the small town that holds her most painful memories? Kristin Wollett is the author of As A Last Resort , a heartfelt and witty romcom coming this fall from a top five publisher. A storyteller at heart, she writes about love, second chances, and the kind of banter that makes you spit your coffee out. When she’s not writing, Kristin can be found on screen—she’s a series regular on the award-nominated show County Rescue and has shared the screen with Hollywood greats like Josh Duhamel and Wayne Brady. She lives in the Tampa Bay area with her husband and five kids, surviving on dry shampoo, espresso, and the occasional glass (ok, bottle) of wine. The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is thrilled to announce the 6th Not So Annual Frank Buxton Silent Film Festival, set to take place from September 12–14, 2025. This year’s festival promises to be a spectacular celebration of silent cinema, featuring a lineup of classic films accompanied by live music as well as being curated by Buxton’s friend and frequent creative partner, John Ellis. One of the highlights of the festival will be a screening of Buster Keaton’s masterpiece, The General , with live musical accompaniment by the renowned Dr. Andrew Shields. Audiences will also be treated to F.W. Murnau’s Sunrise: A Story of Two Humans , with an evocative score performed by Michael Owunchuk. Sunrise is often called the best silent film ever made. In addition to these iconic films, the festival will showcase a variety of other silent surprises, such as our popular comedy short program including comedies such as early Buster Keaton with Roscoe Arbuckle and Laurel and Hardy shorts, and rarely seen European films. This unique event offers a rare opportunity to experience the magic of silent cinema in a vibrant and engaging setting. Join us for an unforgettable weekend of film, music, and nostalgia at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.
