Venue - Polesworth Fire Station Tamworth Road Polesworth B78 1HP Time - Arrival from 0845 - 0855. Course starts at 0900. Course ends approx 1330. Please do not arrive before 0845. Strictly no admittance to the course after 0900. If you arrive after this time you will not be allowed to join the course and will still be charged for the place. You will need to rebook on a later date. Parking is available on site. You can drive in to the yard and park. On arrival, please ring the bell at the front door. Trainer - Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Breaks will be arranged by the trainer during the session. You will need to bring your own drink(s) with you and also a pen and paper. Some of the assessment is carried out on a mannekin on the floor, so please advise us if this could be a problem for you. We cover several different topics of which some maybe of a sensitive nature to yourself e.g. CPR, choking. Please can you let us know in advance if this would cause you any distress, and we will contact you to discuss this prior to the da ID - You are required to bring photographic ID and must show it to the trainer when signing in. Failure to bring ID will mean you will not be permitted to attend the course and will have to re-book. You will still be charged. Communication - the course will be conducted in written and spoken English. Members of staff will be required to participate fully in the session. Join us to learn some new skills and learn how to use a map and compass to orienteer around Pooley Country Park. Each group will be given a small briefing at the beginning of the session, followed by a practice exercise. Each group will then be given a map and must use them to navigate around our orienteering course (designed by Octavian droobers), trying to find each location and make it back to the start point without getting lost!. This activity will require all members to focus and contribute to discover their target. This is a family event and all children must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Younger children may struggle with the distances for this event however a pushchair/wheelchair accessible route is available so if you require this then please make your ranger aware before you set off. Two of these sessions will be running simulatneously so please turn up on time to the session you have booked for your briefing and practice exercise. Meeting point: Outside Pit stop Coffee shop- Pooley Park. EVENTS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What’s included? Your chosen activity led by a ranger and all the equipment required to undertake the activity How long is the event? 1 ½ hrs (or as long as it takes you to complete the course). When do I need to pay? Full payment and your booking is taken by Eventbrite Will I get my money back if I cancel? It depends on how long before the event that you cancel. Please see the refund terms and conditions. Can I bring my dog? We do not allow dogs on our events Do I need to book? Yes, pre booking is essential What should I wear? Activities involve going outside, please make sure your suitably dressed for all weathers (mosquitos and horseflies will be about in the summer). Remember to bring sun cream, hats and insect repellent. What happens if there is a weather warning? We may have to alter your outside activity if there is a weather warning in place, but we will do our utmost to carry on with mitigations in place or provide an indoor activity (if possible). If we cancel your event due to extreme weather, we will offer you an alternative date for the event or provide you with a refund. Can I bring snacks and drinks? Yes, you can bring your own snacks and drink, however we don’t advise eating during the events as some activities require hand washing on return after the activity. Where do we meet? Your ranger will meet you outside Pit stop Pooley park coffee shop.. Do I have to pay for parking? Car parking is payable at the machine by card. What is the age requirement for children’s events? Our children's events events are aimed at 3-12yr olds, unless specified in the event description. Children under 5 will need more supervision undertaking some of the activities. Do adults have to stay on children's events? All children on children's event must be accompanied by an adult or over 18. How many adults do I need to bring on children's events? Ratios: We require the following adult to child ratios, 1 adult to 3 children (Under 5’s will need more supervision on some activities) Can I bring younger siblings to a children's event? Younger children are permitted on this event but may struggle with some of the course.
