Topics will include the structure and duties of township offices, the core statutory responsibilities (i.e., general assistance, road maintenance, and property tax assessment), and other key functions, such as social services, food pantries, mental health boards, open space, cemeteries, and regulation of unincorporated communities. The session will also outline the legal landscape within which township officials must conduct public business, include the requirements of the Open Meetings Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act.
