Elected Officials Training: The Election Is Over-Now What? | Hanover Township Senior Services
Conferences
Whether you are newly elected or returning for another term, the Metropolitan Township Association invites you to a comprehensive Elected Officials Training on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a light breakfast.
This training, led by expert township attorneys Michael A. Airdo and Mark J. Kimzey of Airdo Werwas, LLC, will provide an in-depth overview of township government. Topics will include the structure and duties of township offices, the core statutory responsibilities (i.e., general assistance, road maintenance, and property tax assessment), and other key functions, such as social services, food pantries, mental health boards, open space, cemeteries, and regulation of unincorporated communities. The session will also outline the legal landscape within which township officials must conduct public business, include the requirements of the Open Meetings Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act. With a focus on practical guidance and actionable tips, this training is designed to support a smooth transition into your new term of office and equip you with the tools necessary to serve your community effectively from day one.
