Storybook Walk - Family Fun Day - Frog Finds a Place | Thalassa Park
Arts
The upcoming Storybook Walk at Thalassa Park is about to welcome a new addition! Families are invited to join in the excitement as we unveil a captivating public art sculpture during a delightful, fun-filled day. The sculpture, inspired by the children's book Frog Finds a Place, written by Sally Morgan and Ezekiel Kwaymullina, and beautifully illustrated by Dub Leffler, will bring the story to life in a unique and enchanting way. We are thrilled to announce that Dub Leffler, a talented artist of Bigambul and Mandandanji descent, will be present to celebrate the unveiling of this extraordinary sculpture.
The event promises a wide range of engaging activities for family members of all ages. Children can enjoy face painting, sand and nature art, and dot painting, while everyone can savor a taste of native Australian cuisine. Shakespeares Bookshop will also be on-site, offering books for sale that can be personally signed by the talented illustrator, Dub Leffler. For refreshments, a coffee van, Lions BBQ, and Fairy Floss Galore will be available.
The new sculpture will be officially unveiled by Mayor Moira Were AM, and we will have the privilege of hearing from both the illustrator, Dub Leffler, and the sculptor, Ngarrindjeri artist Thomas Readett. This event is an incredible opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the magic of storytelling and artistry. Join us at Thalassa Park on April 6, 2024, for a day filled with joy and wonder. Admission is free, making it accessible to all.
