Campfire popcorn and dens Join the rangers to create your own pizza pocket by stuffing a pitta with pizza sauce and cheese around the campfire and build your own den. Pizza sauce and cheese will be provided for toppings but feel free to bring any of your own! This event is suitable for children aged 6 and above . An adult to child ratio of 1 adult to 3 children is required due to the nature of the event. All children on a children's event must be accompanied by an adult or over 18 and must not be left unsupervised. Please ensure you dress for the weather. Meet outside the Visitor's centre where one of the rangers will register you and walk you to our woodland area. Please note: There is a parking charge. Can I bring younger siblings to a children's event? • Due to the nature of this event, we would ask that only children aged 6+ attend to ensure safety around the fire and when handling large sticks for den building. All participating children must have a ticket. How long is the event? • 1 ½ hrs Can I bring my dog? • We do not allow dogs on our events Do I have to pay for parking? • Car parking is payable at the machine by card or phone. When do I need to pay? • Full payment and your booking is taken by Eventbrite. There will be a booking fee. Will I get my money back if I cancel? • It depends on how long before the event that you cancel. Please see the refund terms and conditions. Do I need to book? • Yes, pre booking is essential What should I wear? • Activities involve going outside, please make sure your suitably dressed for all weathers (mosquitos and horseflies will be about in the summer). What happens if there is a weather warning? • We may have to alter your outside activity if there is a weather warning in place, but we will do our utmost to carry on with mitigations in place or provide an indoor activity (if possible). How Speed Dating Works in Birmingham When you arrive at the Birmingham venue you will be greeted by our friendly professional hosts. Once everyone has arrived and registered we will briefly explain the format of the evening. The ladies will then be asked to make their way to their allocated table. Once the ladies are seated the gentlemen will be asked to proceed to their first date. You will have 4 minutes to chat to each date, once the 4 minutes is over we will ring a bell to indicate the time is up and for the gentlemen to move to their next date. If driving: There is the shoppers’car park off Sycamore Road opposite Bournville Green; also some roadside parking in Sycamore Road. Walk Description: The first part of the walk is along a pleasant streamside path through Bournville Park followed by a brief walking tour of Bournville Village which takes in some of the distinctive architecture of the area. Most of the houses we see are owned by Bournville Village Trust, founded in 1900 by George Cadbury with a focus on providing good quality housing in a green environment. About halfway through the walk we pause for a refreshments/toilets break at a coffee shop on the Green or eat your own snack on the benches around. Next, we follow the public access route of the Cadbury factory on our way to Cotteridge Park which has an impressive collection of glacial erratic rocks scattered throughout the park. These “glacial erratics” travelled via a glacier from north Wales up to 400,000 years ago and were left behind when the ice melted. We will see a good selection of these rocks. We leave Cotteridge Park behind as we head back towards Bournville Green, on the way taking a walk around the compact Cadbury Park which was formerly the Cadbury girls’ recreation ground dating from the time when workers were kept separate in their leisure time. It’s an interesting little park with remains of some original features. Here the walk finishes with refreshments available on the Green for those who wish before their journey home. 4.75 miles.
