Join the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy (SDRVC) for the relaunch of the popular Trails and Ales program, with hikes led by SDRVC and 4 partners from the San Diego Region. Come explore with us! Spring 2025, the second Tuesday of each month! From March through July of 2025 join the San Diego Canyonlands, Lakeside River Park Conservancy, Volcan Mountain Foundation, Escondido Creek Conservancy and the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy for a guided hike and post-hike refreshments at a local motivation destination! Explore scenic trails, enjoy refreshing ales, and connect with fellow nature enthusiasts! ALL HIKES START PROMPTLY AT 4pm. Anticipate hiking until about `5:30pm then heading to the motivation destination. $60 for the ENTIRE series ~ 5 organizations, 5 hikes, 5 motivation destinations! Learn to Sew & Hem! This class is a continuation of the Beginner Sewing level 1. In this next series, the instructor will guide you through the process of sewing a drawstring backpack. We will learn how to place our pattern on your fabric and cut it out with scissors or a rotary cutter. Then we will show tips on using a seam gauge to find the hem allowance. Next we will learn the proper way to press our fabric into place to get ready for hemming. For students who complete this project early, you can also learn to sew a pet bandana for your furry friends. All materials are included. It’s best to bring your own sewing machine, but you may also borrow one of ours. Please note if bringing your own sewing machine it is very important to make sure it is fully functional. This class is a continuation of the Sewing class 2. In this next series you will learn how to sew a zippered pouch with a lining from beginning to end. You will learn to install a zipper, add lining and construct a pouch. You will apply the skills you learned in the level 1 and 2 to this class to help you with all the finished touches of your pouch. It’s best to bring your own sewing machine, but you may also borrow one of ours. If bringing your own machine you MUST have a zipper foot to use with your sewing machine.
