Duncan Chisholm is one of Scotland’s most recognised and accomplished fiddle players and composers; Duncan’s music contains the rarest of chemistries, a glorious combination of invention, tenderness and passion. Born and brought up near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, Duncan has spent most of his life developing his unique musical voice. Fiddle playing at its best, Duncan’s feather-light handling of dynamics and ornamentation, allied with his pure-distilled tone, lend his characteristic spine-tingling magic to his music. Winner of the 2018 Scots Trad Music Awards ‘Album of the Year’ for his album Sandwood, Duncan creates music which is sumptuously layered and awash with dazzling colours, textures and rhythms. It is music that requires no introductions or programme notes to carry you on its journey. The sound may be traditional but this is 21st Century traditional music which is sophisticated, exhilarating and meltingly beautiful. Duncan’s well-established musical career has taken him throughout the UK, Europe and the USA, both through his solo work and while playing with other musicians and bands. With such a personal interest in and connection to the Highland landscape that so deeply inspires him, Duncan has worked hard to instil great pride and passion into recording musical masterpieces influenced by Scotland’s wild places. “My creative world widens with each passing year and the possibilities for self-expression are limitless. Enjoy the music.” Duncan Chisholm. Information Source: Melfort Music | eventbrite

The Malin Lewis Trio Innovator, award winning, multi-instrumentalist Malin Lewis melds Scottish West coast tradition with a newly invented, self-made bagpipe alongside stars Sally Simpson (Fiddle) and Jenn Butterworth (Guitar). Hair tingling, philosophical and dance inducing melodies inspired by European folk traditions, queerness and the universe. Having toured across the UK, Canada and Europe, Malin released their debut album ' Halocline ' in May 2024 on Hudson Records. A Halocline is a visible layer that forms between salt and fresh water and is home to a unique microbial ecosystem. Halocline is a metaphor for Malin’s trans identity and living in a space in between; a beautiful space between a binary. Malin's unique timbre is born from the deep connection that comes from making and composing for their own instrument. Their one of a kind two-octave Smallpipe creates a whole new world of sound, captivating audiences at every opportunity. Inspired by the likes of Martyn Bennett, Duncan Chisholm and Sharon Shannon their music is as lively as it is thought provoking and sensitive. Recently Malin has been recording music for The Outrun starring Saoirse Ronan, composing for contemporary dance and theatre and has been learning the tradition of the extinct Finnish Bagpipes. Kenny and the Drone Kenny Forsyth has been a stalwart of the Scottish music scene for over three decades . His roots are in the pipeband scene spending many years with the Vale of Atholl, a contemporary of the legendary Gordon Duncan. His small pipes, great pipes and whistles have peppered recordings with livley and lyrical counter melodies and solos, recording and taking the stage with the likes of The Tannahill Weavers , Wolfstone and Piperactive. An Atholl Highlander, Kenny is a keen supporter of Melfort Music and is a regular performer throughout Scotland Europe and the US.
