This is a must for organizations supporting the vulnerable populations of: children, youth, people withe disabilities, newcomers and immigrants. These populations are at greater risk of sexual exploitation and human trafficking and often need to be taught in accommodated ways to ensure comprehension. Willow Winds will teach you to do that in these three days in order to bring the Not a Number program, created by LOVE146, to your organization and embed this valuable, preventative information to your vulnerable clients as part of your ongoing curriculum. Once certified you will receive ongoing virtual support from LOVE146 and be invited to join Willow Winds quarterly, virtual, Community of Practice. For more information check out love146.org or wwsn.ca 5 Modules You Will Learn to Facilitate Module 1 ● Complete a pre-test assessing their baseline knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and skills as related to human trafficking and exploitation. ● Define key terms: exploitation, human trafficking, vulnerability. ● Recognize who can be affected by human trafficking (both sex and labor) and exploitation, and the strategies that traffickers/exploiters employ to recruit vulnerable people. ● Identify signs and red flags of grooming and recruitment. Module 2 ● Analyze how social and cultural norms influence healthy and unhealthy behaviors. ● Challenge stereotypes and judgements we make of individuals in society. ● Understand present laws regarding technology, messaging, and social media use. ● Reject the idea that engaging in risky behavior makes abuse the victim’s fault. Module 3 ● Define consent. ● Learn how to recognize unhealthy relationships and build healthy relationships by analyzing examples of both, identifying their characteristics and red flags, and recognizing abusive behavior as abusive. ● Identify how people utilize technology to build relationships and to abuse and exploit. Module 4 ● Identify personal and peer vulnerabilities (e.g., individual, relationship, environment, society) and risk factors. ● Identify language that can be potentially harmful to one's self and to others. ● Recognize it is important to acknowledge and communicate one’s specific feelings. ● Challenge people to develop healthy language alternatives. ● Identify recruitment tactics designed to exploit vulnerabilities. ● Identify individual pressures that may make people vulnerable and more likely to engage in risky behaviors Module 5● Know how to locate and use community resources. ● Create a safety plan for a potentially risky situation. ● Encourage a peer to seek support should they be experiencing vulnerabilities or abuse/exploitation. ● Apply safety planning strategies to complex real-world situations. ● Demonstrate refusal or negotiation skills that avoid or reduce risk. ● Determine when situations may require adult and/or professional support. Pricing : Early bird : $445.00 + tax ( 30 days BEFORE the course date). Includes practice tape at the course, a course manual, and a certificate. Regular : $545.00 + tax Course Overview The K-Taping Pro course covers the basic functions and effects of K-taping. Applications learned in the two-day course are for muscle, ligament, functional corrections, and fascia corrections. Lymphatic correction techniques are also introduced. Participants will receive instruction on the application of combination techniques for multiple conditions including: impingement syndrome, whiplash, low back pain, finger contusion, wrist stabilization, Iliotibial Band Syndrome, Patello-Femoral Syndrome, knee arthritis, Achilles tendonitis, ankle weakness, plantar fasciitis, scar tape application, lymphatic dysfunction, as well as the indications and usage of Cross Taping. Who should attend? Physicians, physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, chiropractors, athletic therapists, kinesiologists, exercise physiologists, strength and conditioning specialists, massage therapists, and rehabilitation therapists. Course Details In the K-taping® Pro course students are taught Four Application Techniques: Muscle Techniques: Functional disorders in the muscles often cause an imbalance between agonists and antagonists. Muscle taping techniques are used to correct these imbalances. They allow the muscle to return to its normal function and adaptations can be made to the loading capacity and the movement patterns again. Ligament Techniques: The ligament technique is used for injury and overuse of tendons and ligaments. It relieves pressure and pain, and improves loading capacity, resulting in quicker healing. Corrective Techniques: Are divided into functional correction and fascia correction. The functional corrective technique is used for the correction of abnormal bony positions, such as the correction of an abnormal patella position. Functional correction requires maximal stretching of the tape before application. Fascia correction is used for adhesions within muscle fascia, resulting in a loosening of fascia and pain reduction. Lymphatic Techniques: The Lymphatic Correction techniques are used when lymphflow is disrupted. These techniques lift the skin. This increases the space between skin and subcutaneous tissue and lymph fluid is able to flow easier out of the interstitial space into the lymphatic circulation. Other Information Schedule and Location : Sent via e-mail approximately 3 weeks in advance of the course date. Duration: 2 days, Sat-Sun 0830-1730. Two 15 minute breaks and a one hour lunch. Lunch not provided. Some course venues have restrictions about our capacity to offer coffee and snacks during breaks in the classrooms (we recommend that you bring some or your favourite snacks with you). Cancellation policy : registration fee less $50 will be refunded for written cancellations received 21 days prior to the event. No refund will be given after this date.
