Veronica Ryan: Unruly Objects | Pulitzer Arts Foundation
Mar 7–Jul 27, 2025 (UTC-6)
St. Louis
Veronica Ryan: Unruly Objects is the first retrospective of Montserrat-born British artist Veronica Ryan OBE (b. 1956). The exhibition presents Ryan’s avant-garde artistic practice spanning four decades, with over 100 sculptures, textiles and works on paper.
Since the 1980s, Ryan has been working with traditional materials such as bronze and marble, as well as everyday found objects, from seeds and pods to bandages. Her work invites viewers to rethink materials that are considered “waste”, such as bubble-padded envelopes, fabric scraps, packaging and plastic bottles. Her reuse and re-creation of these humble materials not only reflects environmental concerns about overconsumption and waste, but also conveys a new understanding of the potential value of discarded objects. Ryan’s hand-embroidered pillowcases and cushions, with charming coral, turmeric, indigo and textures, evoke dreams and inner worlds. Her creative web interweaves personal and global histories of travel and migration, while carrying narratives of healing, nourishment and belonging.
This exhibition places special emphasis on Ryan’s continued review and re-exploration of past works and concepts. Through constant reconstruction and renewal, she invites the audience to view “life” itself as a process of continuous growth, exploration and change.

Plight of the Bumble Bee | RAC STL @ City Foundry STL
Jun 1, 2025 (UTC-5)ENDED
St. Louis
Plight of the Bumble Bee
Plight of the Bumble
Bee
is a compelling short film that takes you deep into the world of bees and their profound connection to Irish religion, folklore, and biodiversity. This thought-provoking documentary explores the vital role bees play in our ecosystems, the challenges they face, and how we can help ensure their survival.
With moments of sadness, humour and ultimately hope, the film beautifully weaves a narrative that highlights the urgent need to protect biodiversity, both in Ireland and across the globe. It debunks common myths about bees and biodiversity, offering fresh insights and inspiring viewers to take action.
The documentary features heartfelt interviews, including with the likes of Kilkenny native, 81-year-old
Peter Walsh
, who has been counting bees in the same spot in Co. Kilkenny since 1959, and Skerries locals Charlie and Marion Heasman, who have created a remarkable 5km-long biodiversity corridor in Co. Dublin.
With a unique soundtrack of traditional Irish music composed by
Brenda Castles
and performed live with the film by Brenda on concertina,
Alan Murray
on guitar, and
Eimear Arkins
on fiddle,
Plight of the Bumble Bee
is a tribute to nature, community, and resilience. Prepare to be inspired. Prepare to act. This is a story not just about bees—it’s about us all.
This will be an entertaining and informative afternoon for all those interested in nature and the environment around us.
This event is graciously supported by The Regional Arts Commission of St Louis and ARPA for the Arts.

The Bug Club w/ OMNI | The Sinkhole
Jun 18, 2025 (UTC-5)ENDED
St. Louis
The Bug Club (Wales)
https://thebugclub.bandcamp.com/
The way you’re saying it, “prolific” isn’t the right word for The Bug Club. You’ve got to say it with the trademark Welsh lilt and pay due homage to this inimitable band’s origins in the renowned hit factory of Caldicot, South Wales. Do that, and you’re about right with how to summarize a group who’ve released ten singles, two albums, two EPs, three things nobody knew how to describe, and an album under a different band’s name, all since 2021, and while playing 200+ gigs a year.
The Bug Club is Tilly Harris (Bass, Vocals) and Sam Willmett (Vocals, Guitar). Their first offering for the label is “Quality Pints,” a track that deals with the pressing concerns of any conscientious touring outfit, taking to heart the rule of the three R’s as penned by renowned fellow pints fan Mark E Smith of The Fall: repetition, repetition, repetition. If it’s that important, which it is, it’s worth saying again.
OMNI (Atlanta, GA)
https://omniatl.bandcamp.com/album/souvenir
The music of Atlanta trio Omni has always swung fast and hit hard. And Souvenir, their fourth album and second for Sub Pop, packs their biggest punch yet. Inactive during the majority of the pandemic–the longest downtime in their history–they approached this recording with lots of pent-up energy. Guitarist Frankie Broyles, singer/bassist Philip Frobos, and drummer Chris Yonker converted their creative fuel into sharp, driving songs that land immediately, sporting chopping riffs, staccato beats, and wiry melodies.
Why does Souvenir sound so sharp? Because each track is a compact unit that stands on its own, reflecting the time and place in which it was created. That’s why Omni called the album Souvenir: it’s a collection of audio objects, a stash of musical miniatures. Think of it as a family photo album, a binder of rare playing cards, a shoebox holding precious gems.
