Our rangers will guide you through all the necessary safety steps, help you choose the right wood and explain the properties of different species, show you how to carve the spoon shape and bowl safely, and finally demonstrate different ways to finish your projects. The Rangers will meet you under the canopy by the Visitor Centre. What is the age requirement for the event? · This event is aimed at people aged 18 and above. How long is the event? Most events last for 2 hours, unless otherwise stated. If it is a craft activity, it will last as long as it takes you to complete the task to a maximum of the given event time. Can I bring my dog? We do not allow dogs at our events Do I have to pay for parking? Car parking is payable at the machine by card or phone. Do I need to book? Yes, booking is essential. Full payment will be taken by Eventbrite when you book. Please note there is a booking fee. Will I get my money back if I cancel? It depends on how long before the event that you cancel. Please see the refund terms and conditions. What should I wear? Activities involve going outside, please make sure you’re suitably dressed for all weathers (mosquitos and horseflies will be about in the summer). My name is Mark Smallman, and I’m a certified Wim Hof Method instructor, Naad Yoga teacher, Aria Breath licensee, and Soma Breathwork practitioner. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to deliver wellbeing experiences for organisations like Meta, Google, Amazon, TikTok, Soho House, and Sense Arts as Tuned in Sound . As the UK Manager for GONG , I coordinate gong baths and sound meditation for corporate clients, alongside hosting public sessions across London and online, 7 days a week, with a talented team of practitioners. I also run regular online breathwork sessions, combining science-backed breathing techniques with music to create transformative experiences. The health benefits of breathwork are immense, it boosts energy efficiency, releases emotions, reconnects us to our bodies, and fosters inspiration and positivity. The programme for the afternoon will be: Two group sessions which will cover the many different aspects of beekeeping, including: The beekeeping year Setting up an apiary Bee Behaviour and the role of the Beekeeper. The equipment required How honey is extracted and then processed ready for sale. The afternoon will culminate in a hands-on experience of opening up Beehives and looking inside at what the bees are doing. At the end of the afternoon participants will be given a ‘Goody Bag’ of honey, wax and items of Beekeeping things. A Certificate of Attendance will also be given to participants. Full length protective bee suits will be provided. We request that you bring along your wellies or boots that protect the ankles. You should wear a long-sleeved top and stout trousers Any person under the age of 18 on the day must be accompanied by an Adult for the whole afternoon. Our Sunday rambles usually have three levels of walk, strenuous (A), moderate (B) or leisurely (C), led by Birmingham Ramblers group leaders. Join us and enjoy a great day of social walking with our friendly members. Please note: Our walks are often on rough tracks and rights of way through fields, woodland and hills. Whilst we hope that everyone will be able to be accommodated on their walk of choice, the allocation of places for each walk will have to be done on the day. No-one will be expected to walk at a higher grade than they prefer - thus, for example, if you prefer the B walk you will not be asked to join the A walk but may be asked to join the C walk. The booking form allows you to specify your preferred walk. Joining instructions It will only be possible to join the walk by coach, which will be picking up at 09.00 at the layby at the side of St. Chad’s Cathedral, Queensway, Birmingham B4 6EU. Note that this is not the Cathedral car park in Shadwell Street, which has postcode B4 6EY. The coach fare will be £20 with 3 options for payment: Cash on the day in an envelope with your name and the date of the walk. We are unable to give change for cash paymentsCheque on the day, made payable to COBRA, in an envelope with your name and the date of the walk.Bank transfer in advance of the walkFor payment by bank transfer the walk coordinator will contact you about a week in advance of the walk with bank details. For payments on the day, please put the exact fare in an envelope with your name and date of the walk on it, which will be collected on the coach - unfortunately we are unable to give change for the coach fare. Note that you cannot pay the coach fare through our Eventbrite account.
