ALLOW ME TO INTROCUDE YOUR COMICS!!! Patty Rooney is a Detroit area comedian, filmmaker, and recovering people pleaser. Her self-effacing humor comes from years of taking herself too seriously, her quirky family, and the general discomfort that comes with being a woman. You may have seen her sharing a stage with SNL’s Alex English, Keith Alberstadt, and some of Michigan’s best , while performing across the Midwest and Canada. She’s appeared at the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival and with her improv troupe "Big Fun Murder" at the Traverse City Comedy Festival, Grand Rapids Improv Fest, and the Detroit Improv Fest. Paul Montanier is a Co-Founder and Sr. Producer of Brewing for Comedy, the WindsorComedy Club, and festival of the same name, and has been integral in building the Windsor comedy scene. In 2017, he was the winner of Next Best Comic. He's also been a finalist at the Funniest Person in Grand Rapids and the Border City Comedy Festival. Paul's dry wit and expertly crafted material have led to him being featured at various comedy festivals over the years including Windsor Comedy Festival, Chatham Comedy Festival, Thunder Bay Comedy Festival, Paul Bunyan Comedy Festival, Motor City Comedy Festival, and Gilda's Laughfest. Through these festivals and shows in Windsor, Paul has had a chance to work with acts such as Randy and Lahey from the Trailer Park Boys, Hans Kim, Mike MacDonald, Dave Meherje, Kevin Farley, and Ian Bagg. He also was able to sneak backstage at Chrysler theater and ended up having dinner with Norm MacDonald. But that had nothing to do with his comedic talent. He was just sneaky. Isaac Aaron Mulder is one of the producers at the Windsor Comedy club and the Brewing For Comedy Festival as well as being the House Emcee for our Friday Proshows. He has toured with Paul Montanier & Billy Squires Financially Terrified Tour, and has proven to be powerhouse. Scott Gaughan is the Windsor wildcard of the comedy scene. He brings a fun energy and also hosts a comedy game show called "Game On with Scott Gaughan" which can be seen monthly at the Windsor Comedy Club. The ultimate goal at Petty Productions is to bring awareness & emphasize the importance of supporting local businesses. By partnering with an array of local companies, we are able to provide quality entertainment on a monthly basis within multiple venues around the city. I Workshop Overview The September workshop introduces students to robotics and vehicle systems using the LEGO SPIKE Prime platform. This session marks the starting point of the Exposure Workshop Series, focusing on helping learners build familiarity with robotics hardware and the engineering design process. Beginners will focus on exploring the kit components, learning how to assemble and disassemble builds, and understanding how sensors and hubs form the foundation of robotics. Advanced learners will dive deeper into the concepts of vehicle systems and drive base assembly. By studying subsystems such as the chassis, suspension, and braking, students will connect robotics learning to real-world automotive and mobility applications. Both tracks emphasize collaboration, technical literacy, and hands-on problem-solving to ensure students establish a strong foundation for the months ahead. Beginner Path – Introduction to Robotics & Kit Exploration The beginner path introduces learners to the LEGO SPIKE Prime robotics platform. Students will explore the kit’s components—including the programmable hub, motors, sensors, and LED matrix—while learning how to care for and organize their materials. Guided build-and-disassemble activities teach them how to follow printed instructions step-by-step, fostering familiarity with technical diagrams and teamwork. The session also connects robotics to real-world vehicles, showing students how motors and sensors enable automation in everyday machines. Materials Required Laptop or tablet with SPIKE app installed LEGO SPIKE Prime kit: hub, motors, colour sensor, LED matrix, building elements Printed build instructions & worksheets Beginner Path Learning Outcomes Identify Robotics Components Learners will recognize and name the hub, motors, sensors, and LED matrix in the SPIKE Prime kit. Understand the Hub and Sensors Students will explain the hub’s role as the robot’s “brain” and how sensors enable environmental interaction. Assemble and Disassemble Builds Learners will follow printed diagrams to build and take apart a simple vehicle, developing confidence in reading technical instructions. Operate the SPIKE App Students will connect the hub, display text or icons on the matrix, and explore sound features within the app. Collaborate and Connect to Real Life Learners will work in groups to brainstorm how robotics applies to vehicles and everyday machines. Advanced Path – Vehicle Systems & Drive Base Assembly The advanced path challenges learners to dive deeper into vehicle systems and engineering design. Students explore subsystems such as the chassis, driveline, suspension, powertrain, and braking systems, linking them to emerging technologies like electric vehicles and autonomous mobility. They then apply this understanding by interpreting engineering drawings and assembling a stable LEGO SPIKE drive base capable of supporting attachments. Materials Required Laptop or tablet with SPIKE app installed LEGO SPIKE Prime kit: hub, wheels, motors, structural elements Student package with engineering drawings & build steps Advanced Path Learning Outcomes Explain Vehicle Subsystems Students will describe the function of the chassis, driveline, suspension, braking, and powertrain. Apply Engineering Drawings Learners will interpret and follow blueprints or isometric views to support accurate building. Construct a Stable Drive Base Students will assemble a balanced base structure, ensuring correct motor connections to the hub. Test Movement Control Learners will program and test basic forward, backward, and turning motions of their robot. Relate Robotics to Emerging Technologies Students will connect their builds to real-world technologies such as electric and autonomous vehicles. If you’re unsure who your Chapter Leader is, please contact eventsupport@blackboyscode.com to get connected and learn how you can support your local team. Do you like being outdoors in nature? Do you find being in nature calming & restorative?  Would you like to deepen those feelings? If so, then coming to our introduction to Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku) session could be for you… What is Forest Bathing? Forest Bathing has its roots in Shinto and Buddhist traditions and was developed in Japan in the 1980’s as a way of helping the increasing number of workers with chronic stress. Naming this practice” Shinrin-Yoku”, Japan has created over 64 official “Forest Therapy trails” since it’s conception, and the practice has since spread all over the world. During this 2-hour session you will be led by local Forest Bathing Guide Calvin Silvester (Certified through Nadur and Mind Hillingdon) who will help you to learn how to immerse yourself and connect with nature by utilising as many of your senses as you can through a series of activities called “invitations”. The session is designed to slow you down, becoming more aware and mindful of the joy of our natural surroundings and really bathing in the smells, sights, sounds and taste of nature. Noticing and really taking in the small things we can miss on walks or hikes. The session ends with a tea ceremony where we celebrate nature and our reciprocal relationship, and share our experiences. Studies have shown forest bathing can help to: Increase feelings of relaxation Reduce symptoms of stress, & anxiety Lower blood pressure  Improve focus, concentration, and memory Boost the immune system As well as many other evidenced health benefits. Once you have developed the skills and techniques of forest bathing, you can experience the effects anywhere, as nature is all around us, in your local park, in your garden or whilst sitting in traffic in a car and focusing on trees on a roundabout. This session runs on a monthly basis with different themes each month! The walk will be no longer than 1 mile, but as you’ll be outside for up to 2 hours, you’ll need to bring with you: Suitable strong & comfortable footwear Waterproof jacket - if rain is possible Layer up - if cold Some snacks Sit mats are provided for the session, and everyone receives a free gift to give back to nature! To experience the benefits of Forest Bathing and learn how to work this important practice into your daily life, book now… Directions and map can be found here . Please read and follow the directions carefully. ONN works to create a public policy environment that strengthens nonprofits so they can do more. They activate nonprofit networks by convening and engaging organizations, leaders, and stakeholders to tackle cross-cutting issues at a sector-wide level. ONN’s efforts are bringing the voices of the sector to policy- and decision-makers. WEST of Windsor Women’s Enterprise Skills Training of Windsor Inc. (WEST) was developed in 1984 as a response to disproportionately high levels of unemployment among women and the difficulties experienced by women attempting to enter the workforce. During the course of development, it became apparent that the most disadvantaged women, in terms of training and employment opportunities, were visible minorities. As a result of those findings, a plan was implemented to create a technical and life skills training program specific to the needs of visible minority women residing in Windsor-Essex. WEST, a non-profit corporation and registered charitable organization, is the realization of that initiative. With funding from Human Resources Development Canada, WEST opened its doors in February 1987, offering unique training opportunities for women from Windsor-Essex and around the globe. Through skills enhancement and volunteer placements, visible minority women have been prepared for entry to employment and have moved closer to achieving the success they desire. The session ends with a tea ceremony where we celebrate nature and our reciprocal relationship and share our experiences.
