This Is For Everyone The most influential inventor of the modern world, Sir Tim Berners-Lee is a different kind of visionary. Born in the same year as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, Berners-Lee famously shared his invention, the World Wide Web, for no commercial reward. Its widespread adoption changed everything – transforming humanity into the first digital species. Through the web, we live, work, dream and connect. In this intimate memoir, Berners-Lee tells the story of his iconic invention, exploring how it launched a new era of creativity and collaboration, while unleashing a commercial race that today imperils democracies and polarizes public debate. Filled with his characteristic optimism, technical insight and wry humour, this is a book about the power of technology – both to fuel our worst instincts and to profoundly shape our lives for the better. As the rapid development of artificial intelligence heralds a new era of innovation, Berners-Lee is the perfect guide to the crucial decisions ahead – and provides a gripping, in-the-room account of the rise of the online world. Peppered with rich anecdotes and amusing reflections, This is For Everyone is an essential read for understanding our times, and a bold manifesto for advancing humanity's future. Tim Berners-Lee Sir Tim Berners-Lee was born on 8 June 1955 and grew up in London. He studied physics at the University of Oxford before working at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory in Geneva. While at CERN, he wrote a program for storing information including using random associations that he named ‘Enquire’. While never published, Enquire became Sir Tim’s conceptual basis for marrying hypertext with the internet to create a system for sharing and distributing information globally. He published this proposal in a paper titled ‘Information Management: A Proposal’ in 1989. This was the World Wide Web (WWW). Sir Tim has been a tireless advocate for shared standards, open web access for all and the empowerment of individuals on the web. He founded the World Web Consortium (W3C), the global web standards body, where he remains Emeritus Director. He is also the co-founder of the Open Data Institute and World Wide Web Foundation. As co-founder/CTO of Inrupt he has developed the Solid Protocol, pioneering open-source technology to provide data sovereignty for citizens, governments and companies. Sir Tim is an Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Oxford, and has been the recipient of several honorary degrees and awards, including the Seoul Peace Prize and the Turing Prize widely recognised as akin to the Nobel Prize for Computing. He was knighted in 2004 and later appointed to the Order of Merit by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Information Source: Blackwell's, Broad Street Oxford | eventbrite

Cultural Experiences
Join our friendly Nature Tots staff and volunteers to explore the nature reserve and enjoy wildlife themed activities suitable for children aged 18 months to 4 years . We have a different theme each month, eg mini-beasts, dinosaurs or weather,  and every session includes wildlife exploration, sensory play, stories and crafts. We start with child-led play and then come together for a story (it's a good idea to bring a snack and a drink for your child to eat at this point, we provide tea and coffee for grown ups) and usually some singing before we move on to a few extra activities, often including a craft. A lovely way to spend quality time in the great outdoors with your child. Please note activities will take place outdoors - dress for the weather! In winter we may head into the centre for the second half of the session to warm up with a story and crafts by the stove, but we always start outdoors. You only need to book a place for your child, not for the accompanying adult. It's fine to bring baby siblings along, they do not need a ticket.  Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre. We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you or your child are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated. Information Source: The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust | eventbrite

Join bat expert Nik Knight, County Recorder from Hampshire Bat Group, to learn more about the ecology of these fascinating animals. We will then have an evening stroll of about 2km in total alongside the Itchen navigation as the skies darken and bats begin to emerge from their roosts to hunt for insects. Bat calls are usually pitched at too high a frequency for humans to hear naturally. We should be able to detect the various calls using bat detectors kindly loaned to us for the evening by Hampshire Bat Group. Historically the public perception of bats has been largely negative but bats are an important part of our ecosystem. Bats are now in need of our help as they face many threats including from loss of habitat and the decline in the abundance of nocturnal insects. Nik will talk about current work in raising people's awareness of bats and the importance of their conservation. PLEASE NOTE in the event of a very wet or very windy evening this event will be cancelled. Image credit: Amy Lewis Information Source: Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust | eventbrite

This year’s conference is intended to serve both professional and lay helpers who are engaged in gospel-centered domestic abuse intervention ministry. Past attendees have included licensed and lay biblical counselors, social workers, pastors, elders, small group leaders, advocates, survivors, and family members of those experiencing or perpetrating abuse. Whether you are a veteran domestic abuse interventionist or you are in the beginning stages understanding this topic, we hope you will join us. PeaceWorks Live is more than a training event. It's a gathering for people helpers who are committed to responding to domestic abuse with confidence in the sufficiency of Scripture, humble dependence on the Holy Spirit, safety and support for victims, and accountability and repentance opportunities for perpetrators. This is a time for these helpers to reflect on what it means to faithfully respond to these cases with Christ-exalting, gospel-centered solutions and to be reminded that they are not alone in this difficult work. A Word to Perpetrators of Domestic Abuse: If you are a perpetrator of domestic abuse in need of resources to aid in your repentance process, please understand PeaceWorks Live is not intended to serve you in this way. Instead, we ask that you please visit www.menofpeace.org to view the resources PeaceWorks has designed specifically for abusive men desiring change. A Word to Victims of Domestic Abuse: If you are currently living under the weight of abuse and in need of support as you pursue safety and sanity, please visit www.menofpeace.org/for-spouses to view a list of recommended victim care resources. If you are a survivor of domestic abuse desiring to engage in domestic abuse intervention ministry yourself, we recommend that, if possible, you not attend PeaceWorks Live alone but that you bring with you a trusted friend who can provide you with support throughout the event as the conference content may be triggering for survivors. Worship & Plenary Sessions All attendees, regardless of which educational track they register for (see below), will come together throughout the conference for four combined plenary sessions. Plenary #1 - Chris Moles Plenary #2 - Greg Wilson Plenary #3 - Elyse Fitzpatrick Plenary #4 - Rachael Denhollander Plenary session descriptions COMING SOON. On Friday night of the conference, attendees will also come together for a special night of corporate lament. We hope you will join us as we bring our collective grief and sorrow to the Lord and put our trust in Him as the Redeemer who rescues, restores, and rules over all things. Worship will be led by Adam Westlake . Educational Tracks PeaceWorks Live 2025 will feature two educational tracks designed to equip helpers in two key aspects of domestic abuse intervention ministry. Each track will consist of seven training sessions. Attendees will register for one of these two educational tracks. During the event, attendees must stay in the track for which they registered. To switch tracks, please contact PeaceWorks (revchrismoles.assist@gmail.com) by August 22, 2025. Please be aware that seating is limited in each track and we may not be able to accommodate your requested change. Stewarding Survivor Stories Track (175 Spots Available) As helpers, we are given the opportunity to hear and hold survivor stories. This is a great responsibility. How we receive and respond to these stories matters, not only for the survivors we serve, but for the families, churches, and communities they represent. May we be found faithful. This brand new track (led by Elyse Fitzpatrick , Rachael Denhollander , and Melissa Affolter ) will highlight seven common desires survivors have and prepare attendees to steward survivor stories with care and compassion. Session #1 - Validation: I want my story to matter. Session #2 - Redemption: I want my story to be useful. Session #3 - Justice: I want my story to be vindicated. Session #4 - Protection: I want my story to not be repeated. Session #5 - Resolution: I want my story to make sense. Session #6 - Presence: I want my story to be handled with care. Session #7 - Restoration: I want my story to have a happy ending. Stewarding Survivor Stories Track session descriptions COMING SOON. Men of Peace Facilitator Track (75 Spots Available) This newly expanded track (led by Chris Moles and Greg Wilson ) will highlight three approaches to perpetrator intervention: coaching, counseling, and groups - with the majority of the training focused on facilitating Men of Peace groups. Session #1 - Assessing for Risk & Openness to Change Session #2 - Contributive, Not Causative: Trauma-Informed Biblical Care for Perpetrators Session #3 - Building Teams Session #4 - Coaching Perpetrators Session #5 - Counseling Perpetrators Session #6 - Men of Peace Groups: The Whys & the Basics Session #7 - Co-Facilitating Men of Peace Groups CLICK HERE to view the Men of Peace Facilitator Track session descriptions.
