Join us for a 2-day Veteran Response Team (VRT) training for police officers who are veterans. Join us for a 2-day Veteran Response Team (VRT) training for police officers who are veterans in Michigan. John D. Dingell VAMC is hosting a 2-day VRT Training for police officers on Wednesday September 23 and Thursday September 24, 2026. Registration includes both days of scheduled topics and discussion. Please direct any questions to Dr. Megan Wade at Megan.Wade@va.gov Veteran Response Teams are programs in which police officers who are Veterans receive specific trainings on mental health and Veteran health in order to collaborate with Veterans in crisis in a peer support model. Research on VRT programs show that Veterans who receive VRT response have a higher rate of following through with inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use treatment, utilize homeless services, and have decreased use of emergency services in the 6 months following their initial run. Join the MDTC and MAJ for a day of sportsmanship and charity! Join us for a day of sportsmanship at the Battle of the Bar! Teams representing the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and Michigan Association for Justice will take to the field at the Corner Ballpark and compete in a game of softball, and we invite everyone to come and support your team. Make sure to grab some concessions and head to the stands on August 18 to cheer them on. Battle of the Bar Thursday, August 18, 2026 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A portion of all proceeds will be given to the Detroit's Police Athletic League (PAL). All refund requests must be requested two weeks before the event. TBAs WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Any submitted TBAs will be invalid, and you will be asked to register the attendee.
