Hailed as one of the most exciting and multitalented filmmakers in the indie scene by The Criterion Collection, Sandoval has directed three feature films, including the critically acclaimed Lingua Franca, which was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. She is currently developing her fourth feature, Tropical Gothic, which recently won a development prize at the 2021 Berlinale.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the theatrical motion picture industry, Sandoval has been invited to join the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Additionally, she has been appointed as the 2023-24 Artist-in-Residence at the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU.
