Fine Art
Discover the ancient art of fabric screenprinting with dyes in this immersive two-day class. Join renowned printmaker and textile artist, Gail Leschine-Seitz, as she guides participants through the rich history and techniques of dyeing designs into clothes. This class offers a unique approach to screenprinting, departing from traditional ink-based methods. Instead, participants will learn how to mix dyes into a seaweed-based medium, resulting in vibrant, long-lasting designs that become an integral part of the fabric. No longer will your creations fade or wear away over time.
During the class, you will have the opportunity to create your own one-of-a-kind design pattern using the provided elements. Immerse yourself in the world of textiles and explore the possibilities of working with shapes and designs. The class is suitable for both beginners and experienced individuals who have a passion for design and textiles. No previous printmaking experience is required.
The class will take place on Saturday, November 18th, and Sunday, November 19th, from 12 pm to 4 pm. You will find us at the main art building on the AAC campus, located at 1255 Wold Road, Friday Harbor, WA 98250. Once enrolled, you will receive a confirmation email with directions and parking information.
